Okay, so there's a breeder here selling a REW doe who has a leg, and I might get her, but I don't know.
I have a lilac tort buck who may be DQ because of his nails, but they seem to be getting color.. not sure yet.

I know color is the last thing to worry about, but are these colors compatible? I think I will get her.. despite my mom's pleas. haha Just need some opinions/push I guess.

Thanks!

For sure! I'll get more pictures up soon! He's grown up so much.
Well, she has a ton of REW and some black, blue, and even BEW and VM.
Mine has chocolate lilac, VM, REW, and BEW in his background.

I'd be wanting to find out how old the doe was - if she'd ever been bred - and do you already have goals for what you want to breed? Certain colors or whatever?

She's not quite a year old yet. That was my first question. She's been shown, but I don't think she's been bred.
I do want to breed for density, body, and for BEW, which she does have in her background, so she's perfect.

I would not use a REW in a BEW breeding program. That can add a red cast to the eye of the future generations of BEW, which is a show DQ. :-/

Ack you're right.. The chances of BEW coming from these two are pretty slim though, so I could just cull them, but I'll think about it more.

If I were putting my time, money, and cage space into raising a litter, I personally would not breed something with a chance of such a preventable DQ. The vienna gene (the one that gives you BEW) shows up without warning anyway, so if you buy this doe, you already have a chance of getting vienna-marked babies (which are non-showable). And if you have VM's with blue eyes and a red cast to them, that's even worse. PLUS, like I said, most BEW breeders try to keep REW out their BEW, so the chances of any reputable breeders buying your stock is slim.

It's your choice of course, but I would personally find a different doe if you're wanting to breed. REW is fine and BEW is fine...but not together.

Yeah, she's not really my first choice doe. Just having a hard time finding any angoras close right now.
I'll probably wait and see what I see at the show, since it's not too far away and there will for sure be some breeders I can talk to there.

and yes, I know it's my choice, but that's why I posted: to get honest opinions and it really helps! :)
