Hello all!
So I’ve had my rabbit for a little over a year. Being with the pandemic and online school( I’m in college currently) I’ve been able to spend so much time with her since I got her. My problem lies in the fact that I now work 50 hours a week. I have always trusted my rabbit to run around my room when I’m not home until now. She has started chewing everything in sight. She has probably 5 cardboards boxes, a couple Timothy hay balls, and a couple hay tunnels as well… so she has enough things that she is allowed to chew that this has never been a problem. I have ordered the bitter apple spray to keep her from chewing my dresser, etc. but I want to give her more things to do since that’s obviously one of the problems. What other recommendations are there to keep buns occupied and out of trouble? I want to be able to keep her out of her cage more often but she needs something fo keep her very occupied.

Defintely make sure that your dresser and other items that you wouldn't want chewed or destroyed are bunny-proofed and out of her reach to ensure something doesn't happen when you're not home. :)

You can try getting food enrichment toys, such as snuffle mats, stuffing treats inside willow balls, etc to keep her busy for longer. Another thing is that you could try scatter feeding other foods and getting things like flavoured balsa blocks and willow sticks, my bunny really likes those!

The desctructive behavior could be in part due to your not having as much time to spend with her. New activities and distractions may help some, but if not, bonding her with a neutered bunny friend can help give her the constant companion she needs. If she is not currently spayed, that can also sometimes help reduce instinctual desctructive behavior, and would need to be done if you were to try and bond her. It's also recommended due to uterine cancer risks.

You can get her a chewable rug. She should sleep during the day. You might get her that fence thing for daytime.
