Here is one of my favorite pictures of me - from Alaska about 10 years ago. My hair isn't as dark - and it is straight...but with this - you can see the shape of my face.

I want something somewhat short even though I've been told that fat girls (which I am) don't look good w/ short hair.

My hair is VERY VERY thick - is currently shoulder length and is giving me headaches from the weight.

I'll try to find my hair color later - its Garnier and I want to say it something like acorn squash or butternut squash or something...arg...I can't remember.

I'll go look at the box tomorrow and get the color name..

Thanks - I don't have curls - that picture was a perm....my hair is a bit curly but it is so heavy that it usually straightens out pretty well.

You might find that your ends curl if you cut it shorter, just because there's less weight there. :) I can't wait to see what you decide on, though! :D

Here are some cuts I thought were pretty. :)

I think this one is my favorite of the four.

I'm horrid about haircuts - I don't go as often as I should (because I frequently hate the cut) and I don't know what to tell them, etc.

The last time I got my hair cut (Zin is gonna kick my rear for this) - I went in - told them the haircut I wanted based upon what she told me to tell them - they screwed it up big time - and I went home crying - after calling her and crying on the phone.

So yeah - its been over 6 months since I've had my hair cut and I'm in desperate need of having it dealt with.

I've usually sort of done the page boy type of thing (I think that is what it is called??)...

Here is a picture of me with my hair a few months ago - before the bad cut...but it gives you a better idea of the color ...sorta...

It gets really really gray which Art hates on me (ok - so I admit that it isn't an attractive gray)....my roots are....very long right now and that is why I hope to color it while Art is gone this weekend.

Oh - and the color I use is Garnier Nutrisse #80, Medium Natural blonde aka "butternut".

If I had my way, I'd shave my head, if only I was a man!

I HATE my hair, really do. I've always cut it myself since I was a little kid. It's never had shape or a style of any sort.

Our family go prematurely grey, so I've got greys, had them since I was a teen.

My hair is always yanked off my face, up in a clip or a ponytail. No idea what to do with it.

I like the garnier nutrisse colours too, I use a medium warm brown colour normally but they changed the mixture here and now that colour looks almost black. So I went for a dark blonde and it's not blonde at all but a light brown.

I can see you with a shorter cut, you'd look fine. Something a bit sassy and cheeky to suit your upbeat personality. I'm not too keen on the colour, sorry to say, I think your skin tone needs something else. Don't know what but maybe, darker...? Or a different tone?

I've gone red twice before - but it didn't look good on me. Then again - my mom thinks NOTHING looks good on me so I suppose that sort of ruined it for me when she saw it.

When I used the butternut last time (and its been months...my bad) - it was the first time I did a color and loved it - and then wound up having Art say something like, 'Wow - I really like that one on you.." without me asking anything.

I think if I wore makeup and took better care of my skin - it would help.

I love the last hair cut you showed and chose as your favorite. It's also my favorite and I think it would look great on you.
I've printed it up to put in my purse. I'm hoping to go get it done on Tuesday or Wednesday....and surprise Art.

But first I need to get my hair washed and dyed...

I'm still open to seeing other haircuts though - I'm not 100% committed to this one.

But I want something that is..perky...fun...youthful (yet not make me trying to look like an 18 year old).

Oh - its gotta be easy to care for - is that one easy to care for?

To me it looks like you dry it, fluff it with a little something (spray? gel?) and then just go. A cute and flirty style. If I went short, I'd definitely do something like this. If Art complimented you on that color, stick with it. :) It's good to get compliments without asking.

If you and Art like that hair colour, that's great! Maybe I didn't word myself so well, hmm. You know how you can get warm, ash and cold tones? I'm just thinking that you might suit a cooler colour. Not sure about in real life but the colour looks orange in the pictures.

I'd love to try short hair, you can try it for me and tell me how it goes :p.

Oh yeah - gotcha.....I've had my colors done before.

If you go by the more updated versions I'm a "Warm Spring" - I think I have that right...not cool tones at all.

When I dye my hair I'll take a picture of it because it actually seems to be toned down on me...

I am really looking forward to having shorter hair again. I'm scared ... but excited.

Right now I'm working on a collage about me - things I like & dislike, etc. I think I'll put "go to hair stylist" and "dying hair" down on the "hate to do" lists!

I think its cause I always feel so inadequate.

I like the one on the bottom at this blog

Just don't go for this look. Art would surely flip!

There are a couple of sites where you can upload your picture and try different styles and colors on it. I can't remember the names now but if you do a google search, they are easy to find.

I really like the pic inmiddle, above.

I have very thick hair that's straight. I can get this look

with a round brush, hair dryer, spray and scrunch. I suppose a body perm might help but I never found it necessary.

Oh my...it would be so much fun to get a wig like that and come home and say, "Look what I did to my hair honey...".

You have to understand - Art WAS growing out his hair for our Vow Renewal ceremony this year at the Ren Faire (we don't think we can afford it - so he shaved it all off about 10 days ago). But a couple of weeks ago he came out of the bathroom and said, "Hey hon - look at my mad scientist look.."

I snapped a photo...if you tell him I shared it - I'm SO dead..

cleaningoffcamera002-1.jpg

So it would be fun to do something like that to him....by the way - I think he partly shaved it off cause I said he reminded me of "Greg Brady" (from the Brady Bunch") - only cuter...

He didn't take it the way it was meant..

LOL! That is exactly what my DH looks like when he wakes up. Talk about bed head. I promise not to tell Art about the pic.

I have thick hair and sometimes I do my Texas Big Hair 'DO' just for the fun of it. Blow dry it from the underside, brush it while bent over and shazam, it's big hair day. I'm letting mine grow a bit as it's been short. The last time I got it cut, Irene had to thin it out a bit. She brokea comb due to the denseness.

Have fungetting the perfect look and pampering yourself!

Hey Peg!

I think this one that Ann posted would be a good starting point!

Go a lighter brown and shorter (than you have now, not the picture, lol). But justify it to your liking from there. The stylist should know what color would work best for your face. I wish you the best of luck with it, it's so fun, but so scary too!

Well - I was feeling really good about my haircut - till Art took pictures of it and I looked at them.

Ever knew you were overweight but didn't really "see" yourself and how you look till you saw yourself in pictures?

UG.

Also - I know if Zin sees this thread - she's gonna come through the computer screen and SLAP me when she sees my roots.

Zin - I promise you - I'm dying them in the next 24-36 hours.....

So this is the haircut the way it is now - predye...(the sun was in my eyes...so I look yucky).

I'm certainly glad I didn't really take pics of me pre-haircut...

BTW - I really do like the haircut - it is nicer than it looks in the photos and I feel really good about it...

mostly....

Peg, I like the hair cut and it doesn't make you look 'fluffy'! From what I can see, it looks like you have several options on styling. Can't wait to see the cut again after your color.

PS: Ithink some red highlights would look great.
