I'm taking summer classes at my university, and starting next week I'll have class from 8 am until 4 pm with only 10 minutes between each class, so no time for lunch. I need help thinking of healthy snack items I can take with me that don't need to be kept cold, don't need spoons or forks (so long applesauce), aren't messy (bye bye oranges) and aren't too weird (I love pickles but think the strong smell might be distracting). This is what I've thought of so far:

bananas
grapes
carrots
almonds
small pouches of chocolate soy milk
dried fruit
granola bars
Fig Newton Fruit Crisps (I've been addicted to these lately: http://www.associatedcontent.com/ar...ons_fruit_crisps_snacks_delicious.html?cat=22)
orange juice

Any other ideas? I'm not a huge fan of sweet things and all but the almonds are sweet. Suggestions for healthy, savory snacks would be great!

Mini savoury muffins? I have a great recipe if you want it? I tend to get all the nearly dead veges out of the fridge :Dand some cheese and your good to go. What about chicken sushi or something? That would need to be kept cool though. Um mini bread cheese sticks? I also have a recipe but beware they are VERY nawish. Mini filled rolls? Hmm I'll keep thinking for you as I also need lunch ideas :)

Edited to add - What about wraps, they're really quick to make and totally scrummy!

Soy nuts, sliced cucumber, sliced bell pepper (I do okay without refrigerating these for a few hours), drinkable yogurts, granola bars, apple slices, dried fruit..banana chips, craisins, dried mango.

My current snack kick is half a pita round, toasted lightly, then spread inside with peanut butter. You could stuff anything in a pita, and as long as it's not overfilled or too juicy, it will be fine. You could do a ham, chicken, or turkey sandwich, as long as you aren't carrying it for 7 hours, and aren't leaving it out in the sun, it should be fine without refrigeration. Or get a small insulated lunch container, and use an ice pack. You could get some of those packets of mustard or mayo, and put it on at the last minute so it's not soggy.

I eat some baby carrots nearly every day.

10 mins is long enough for a sandwich.

My favorite snack is veggies and hummus, or crackers and hummus.

Cheese strings, granola bars, fruits, veggies, trail mix, crackers.

Are you not allowed to eat during class? We were always allowed to eat during class.

^ Us (in HS) too. Food helps the brain, so gave us a free pass to eat whenever.
I have a `recipe` you could use.

Take a tortilla and spread it with Hummus, or Peanut butter (stop like half an inch before it ends). Then drizzle with lemon juice (for hummus) or put THINLY sliced banana (For PB) and roll it up. Cut about the size of your thumbnail to make little `pinwheels`

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! Unfortunately the 10 minutes between classes won't be long enough to eat anything, the buildings the classes are in are a 15 minute walk apart. I hope the Biology teacher doesn't mind me being late every day because there's nothing that can be done for it.
