As some of you know a week ago I rescued a Mini Rex from my yard. I first took her to a freinds house that has two cages of bunnies with the most awsome setup. They can go inside or outside to a play areaas they want. Well She was not home so I put my rescue bunny in the area that only had two rabbits .Well my friend came home two hours later and said she was with the boys:shock:and she did not want another rabbit. So I brought her home and found this site.

Well I did not mean forthis to happen, but how soon can I tell if she is pregnet? :?.

I am going to move this to the Rabbitry section for you. You will get more responses from breeders there. ;)

ETA: And to answer your question, you can't really tell in rabbits if they are pregnant or not. Some experienced breeders can palpate at around 12 to 14 days of gestation and feel the kits, but it can be dangerous to do if you don't know how to do so properly.

I would just watch her really closely and figure out her due date. Rabbits gestation is about 30 to 32 days, so figure out when she could have gotten pregnant, and then count on the calendar 30 to 32 days to find her due date. The box would need to go in on about day 27, or day 28. ;)

Thank you, what size should the box be ?I am setting her up with very large cage in my bed room .Babies are not she has found the perfect home:hugsquish:

Why is my signature notshowing up:?

What breed is she, or weight? That will really help in determing the size of box she should have. Also, what breeds/weights were the bucks?

And your signature won't show up because that feature is only for certain members - those who are Friends, VIP. ;)

Are you planning on buying a nestbox, or building one yourself?

Your local feedstore might possibly have nestboxes for sale, and the best size for a Mini Rex is about 16 inches long, 9 inches high, and 9.5 inches wide. That's the size of box #9251 from KWCages: http://clover.forest.net/kwcages/index.htmlwhich looks best for the Mini Rex.

I custom built my nestboxes, so I will go out and take the measurements on those in just a few. ;)

I just found out the two males are Lion Heads. It was dark and I didn't get a good look at them till today. Their hair is not aslongas a show bunny but you can tell they are Lion Heads.

I have her in my bed room with everything she needs to be happy. A verynice size cage with a box for her and babies . (if she is pregnent)

I would take the nest box out for now as she will use it as a litter box and wait until 27 days after she was with the boys.

I would say yes but I am sure someone with more experience will come along and let you know. I would say just keep an eye on it and if she starts using it as a litter box then take it out if not then leave it.
