It must be my device that won't allow me to type text. Oh well... Anyway my very dear friend called to tell me that her family must get rid of there rabbit immedietly. She wanted to take him to the pound and after much discussion we decided he should just come here for now anyway. The problem is of course Fraggles! There not going to be in the same room but they will both be getting free time in the living room at different times of course. But she will smell him and know he is there. This little guy is a neutered polish dwarf weighing about 2 pounds. A lot more then my 14 pound Fraggles. How can I minimize the stress to both of them? What behavior should I worry about? The boy will most likely be listed on the "rescue me" section. Although *cough* I really like Pudden *cough*. Don't tell Fraggles.... :(

I am assuming your living room is carpet? That does make it harder to get rid of the smells, if it was hardwood or something you could just wipe it down and hope that is good between when you let them out.
You can try misting the area with vinegar (or a mix with water). It should help with any smells and you focus it on areas where he might do something. I know this does help at agility if a rabbit sprays or is really smelling the mats, spray it and they thed to leave it alone afterwards.

Is there anyway you can let him run around anywhere else? A kitchen, bathroom or bedroom can work if they are safe. This would help keep them apart and hopefully minimize and issues.

The issues you will probably have are poop and/or pee wars. They will smell each other and may start to pee and poop all over the place to claim it as theirs. Vinegar does work with getting rid of the smells, there are also pet enzyme cleaners you can use.
I guess you will just have to see how it goes and hope there aren't too many issues. You could find that they really like each other and you get the 2nd bunny you have been wanting :)

I would love to keep little Pudden. He is a very sweet boy and so cute. I will ne posting pictures tomorrow :). Poop/pee wars is a huge concern. Fraggles is house broken and Pudden uses a litter box for pee but likes to spead his poo's. Pudden does not like hardwood or tile at all and needs to be on carpet (living room). I think it would be unfair to cut off the living room for Fraggles cause she loves people and the couch. Pudden is going into Fraggles room and Fraggles is going in our room. That way he can be loose in his x-pen and Fraggles does not loose to much of her time out with us. Does that sound fair?

If there's a chance that you'd like to keep him and bond him to Fraggles, it is good for his smell to get everywhere. If Fraggles seems bothered at all, she should calm down about it after a few days of his smell being there.

Having them smell each other without being able to see each other is the least distressing way for them to meet.

That is a really good idea. I know she is going to be thumping up a storm. I just don't want the little guy to be afraid. I have seen him with another bunny and he was being humped quite a bit. So I know he is submissive.

Lol, but bunnies aren't cannibals, so you do have that on your side!

I managed to bond Gus, who was 4 lbs at the time, to Molly, who was 14 lbs. I don't think size is a huge issue for them. It was funny watching Gus hump her, though. :hearts

Never know may bring out the maternal instincts in Fraggles since he is soooooo!! much smaller. Should be amusing to watch her look of sheer horror, first the "Tattoo" now another rabbit. Fraggles you can always come and live with Benjamin, after all he is closer to your size. lol
