My neighbor is moving tomorrow. and was going to leave the bird in the apartment. So I took it off her hands I dont know if I will keep it or find it a good home

What kind of bird is it? There's a cockatiel forum I posted on for years that you would probably enjoy if you have a tiel.

I am on a pretty cool bird forum, its called Birdboard.com.
I am hoping to get a parrot next spring so I joined this site to learn about parrots and there are all sorts of species of birds on there.

I am jealous! I want a love bird so bad, but the husband said he wouldn't be able to handle "bird noises" all of the time.

he is not that loud. they sleep through the night to

my nextdoor neighbours used to have a outdoor avairy with lovebirds, cockatiels and quails in it. They are beautiful birds to look at, they did tend to like all birds chatter during the day, but as you said are quiet at night. They didn't prove to be too socialable to other birds though, as they killed the poor cockatiels and then turned on themselves by attacking each others young! I don't know if this is common behaviour or just poor management, because maybe the avairy was too small but, when I have seen them on their own or in small 2-3 groups they seem to be nice species of bird to own.

I'm taking an "exotic avian husbandry and captive propagation" class this semester and our first half was on psittacines (parrots)
I spent half of the time wishing I had a parrot and the other half freaking out learning all the ways I could easily and accidentally kill it (e.g PTFE fumes from nonstick cookware)
Maybe some day.
