At the moment I use a rubbermaid storage container that is about two feet by a foot and a half. I like to have enough room that the buns can both be in the box at the same time and Sophie has a big butt. The problem is that she likes to kick litter out of the box and it goes all over! I can't find a covered kitty litter pan anywhere close to large enough for her.

Anyone have good suggestions for the more fuller figured gals that like to toss litter?

I have seen some people on here that use a rubbermaid bin as a litter box. Get on tall enough for the rabbit to be in comfortably. You can use the lid so it is covered, but if it is tall enough, kicking the litter out might not be an issue. You will need to cut a hold in the side for them to go in and out, filing the edges is a good idea too.

The only thing I can think of would just be a bigger storage container. They make huge ones, I'm sure you could find one to suit your needs. I'm lucky that I have a small bun and I just use the typical small animal litter box!

Kate, that is an excellent idea. The one I am using now has three inch sides, but I could see using one the same size, just with tall sides and a lid so when she kicks it stays in. Thanks so much!

Brandy - LaylaLop posted the most incredible set up on Upgraded Litterbox and Hay Rack - Housing and Enviroment - Hare Care. All the specs and drawing are there. Thinking of making Derby one.

Haha, thanks. Right now their main litterbox is a large rubbermaid tote with a square cut out 8 inches up. Haven't had any kicking out from that! Plus they love lounging on the lid of it...

The one made from the black tote with the dip-down front worked ok, but I noticed they still kick out litter everywhere. The only way I can stop this is by making the fully enclosed box. But, yours probably aren't as much into burrowing as Mumford seems to be.
