RO iswilling to throw almost all the forum resources into this project, butit needs to be better organized for it to work. MW will be up again formidable competition in the next phase, cat and dog operations are much much muchlarger and better organized, it's an uphill battle.
Gameplan Outline
-get volunteers to amass a list of dozens, if not hundreds, of products with key notes beside each for easy reviews to post and distribute.
- send out a mass email to all RO members with a ZooToo 'cheat sheet' -- where to go, what to do and what to say to make it as quick and easy as possible for the casual members who really don't care. (List the referral link, the volunteer link, and include a product reviewcheat sheet).
- encourage every member to sign up at least one friend AND one relative and send them the same sheet. NOTE: Make it clear that this can go to friends who have other pets and not rabbits, aslong as they willregisterMidwest!
- asign people to post on Craigs List.
- ask our Newwire Task Force people to post every story to ZooToo as well, and then ask members to comment there as well (or instead of if need be).
- organize/encourage DAILY ZooToo video andphotopostingsof pets and products.
- assign a number of Task Force members to trade off duties so that somebody is amassing major points every night (along with the usual suspects and casual browsers).
- get everybody to make a signature linked to Zootoo, Vote for Midwest 48198 at ZooToo (linked).
- ask for area volunteers to distribute a 'support Midwest' flyer.
But most importantly... mostly for the MidWest people themselves...
- start a Media campaign based on the shelter, and also the contest, but not just a blatant 'vote for us' campaign, most sources won't cover that. But a good hook is thatZooToo virtually ignores rabbits, the contest not listing rabbits can be slipped in as an example of the unsungwonderpet. And the obvious hook to get the interviews in the first place -- it'sEaster!!! (Major advantage). AnEaster media campaign can talk about how rabbits are the most purchased (???) pets next to cats and dogs, but they're also the most neglected -- neglect as in abused, but also overlooked, a great example being ZooToo. They don't even have a main category for rabbits!!
- we also need a 'bunny slaves unite' campaign that willcenter on Midwest as the frontrunner (I can't find a search function that will search the shelters, but I don't see any other rabbit rescues above MW) and get people that may otherwise support other rescues pooling their resources with MW just to make sure there's at least onerabbit rescue in the Top 20. The hook here is that we're tired of Rabbits being virtually ignored by major pet businesses. Rabbits have had crappy food, bad education, etc. from the corporate world for years, now is the time to protest!
NOTE:Include the zip code with every piece of correspondence (it's a b*tch to find the rescue without that), and encourage people to also join using that zipcode, that way they can also list themselves as volunteers for an extra100 points. I suggest using 'Midwest 48198' everytime you send an invite as well as using the Midwest Zootoo page link. (I used the MW ZTlink but it took me to the page and I still had to find it again with the zip code).
