I've entered the Novel Writing contest this year. 50,000 words, all in the month of November.

They say "write what you know"

so, I thought...hey...what about rabbits?

I know there's been a novel about rabbits--Watership Down, but Icouldn't think of any novel that's been written from the perspective ofhouse rabbits. I thought I would try.

But

I need your help. While I'm pretty sure I can fill a book with Elf'santics (and those from rabbits past), I'd love to use pieces of rabbittales we've shared here as well to add to the book.

If I finish it, and edit it, I will try to submit it to publishers.

It may never get that far. LOL :D

If by some ODD chance it does get published. I'm figuring at least 1/2 the profits should go to rabbit rescue.

Again,getting publishedmay never happen.

So, if you would be willing to let me use your funny rabbit anecdotesin my novel writing debut...or attempts thereof, please tell me itwould be all right in this thread. I will even share the story as it"comes alive" with you by email (if you want).

I also would love to add sketches to the novel. I'm allowed to plan thestory throughout October, just not allowed to do any actual writinguntil November 1. I think drawings will be a big part of my planningprocess, and why not include them in the finished novel??? So, if you'dbe willing to let me sketch your buns, please let me know that too. :D

All that said, this is my first try at such a huge project like this. I'm hoping I do well...but...who knows???

Thank you!!!!

Minda

Definately use anything fromany thread of Mine you wish ! If anythingmore crops up in thenext month or two please feel free to useit also ! this is so wonderfull, Luck be with You ! You will do an ExcellentJob I am sure .

Ohhhh....sounds like a fun project! Isit along the same lines as a Chicken Soup For The Pet Lovers Soulbook? Just short stories from us? I'd LOVE to!

I haven't read that one!!! Now I'm wondering ifI should read it as research, or write blind so it doesn't look likeI'm imitating that book?

And yes, maybe "Rabbit Tales" would be a good title even! I don't thinkI can use anyone's words exactly (that might be considered cheating, since I have to write the 50,000 words on my own), but I'm sure I canuse the experiences people are willing to share! :D

I think a whole book about our buns would be darn nifty. hehe

Should we PM you our stories? Or shallwe post our goofy stories in this thread? I think I am kindaembarrassed, cause y'all might not think my bunny stories areinteresting or funny....?

That is a great book! There are some funny stories, someterribly sad and touching stories. You might be able to findit at your library. :)I am reading Chicken Soup For The DogLover's Soul right now. Wish they had one book ALL aboutrabbits... Oh. Wait. That's what you arewriting! I am SO excited for you!

If you're willing to let me use them, you canpost them in your own thread (most everyone has a personal thread abouttheir buns by now), or you can put them here, or you can email them tome (PM me to get my email since we don't share them in posts due torandom trolls :p). Whatever you are most comfortable with!

Maybe I will read the book. I could even submit it to the Chicken Soup people for possible publication?

Signed copies for EVERYONE! hehe

You can use my stories and pictures. Ithink this is very ambitious and very cool. I wish you the best of luckand will be coming here often to see how it's going.

Elf Mommy, I admire what you aredoing. I'm also an aspiring writer. I've come sooooclose to getting published in several film magazines, but I haven'tbeen able to do so yet. It sounds like you have really pickedan original idea (not too many rabbit novels out there), and I wish youthe best of luck!

This is neat - we have two people wanting towrite about bunnies - I've even bumped Susan's thread since I've beenmeaning to give her some of my stories....

Woo hoo! We'll get folks interested in rabbits after all....

Now if we could just get a celebrity endorsement.Unfortunately, Tiny doesn't do endorsements and he's not enough of acelebrity. Perhaps Wollo?

I read Corkys' story and I loved it! It made me smile, cry and laugh.

Corky is one extremely lucky bunny to have a mummy like you.:pinkpansy:
