nail clipping

the other day i was clipping snickers nails and she moved and then she started bleeding. it did stop and i cleaned her foot. but for future reference, what can i use to stop the bleeding?

Kwik stop, silver nitrate, some type of specialty product will work much quicker and helps to numb the nerve. If you do not have that available at any store near you, then corn starch with lots of pressure.

I usually keep styptic powder (e.g. Kwik Stop) on hand but corn starch can do in a pinch.

i've heard that you can use corn starch. do you use it dry or mix it with water?

I just use flower. You just put it on the nail and it stops the bleading. You do not mix it with anything.

yeah, dry/plain cornstarch or flour will work if you don't have styptic powder (which can be purchased from pet stores)

is either flour of cornstarch ok to leave on the foot if they lick it off?
