We've had Buttercup about three months now and have decided that she doesn't like being touched much, so we can't pick her up. She does let us pet her while she eats, but thats about it.

What's the best way to go about clipping her nails? I have to admit that I get a little nervous at times, I don't want to be bit! I've heard of the bunny burrito, so how does that work exactly? Are you draping the blanket over their back to start? Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

There's a youtube video that you probably can find by doing a search for burrito.

But you really should try getting her used to being picked up, even if she never likes it. She'll have to go to the vets someday, for example. Just pick her up, hold her against you, talking in a soothing manner. Put her down in a few minutes & give her a treat immediately.

Nail clipping makes me nervous too. Not so much of biting buns, but hitting the nail quick.

It does take practice, but working with handling your bunny, it will become a norm.

At three months old, all bunnies hate handling. All mine did until working with them every day to gain their trust. Once that was achieved, nail clipping, grooming, checking all body parts, its all becoming easier each time.

Dobby and Kreacher will relax on their backs in my lap while I clip. Bunny Bear likes to be sitting up while I trim. Still working with the babies, Neville and Luna. I've been touching paws, touching nails, ears, eyes teeth. They still are babies, going into teenage months, so they give me attitude. That will pass as they get older.

It's all about practice. But the most important part, get your bunny to tolerate being picked and handled. You don't need your bunny to love it, but you need have him/her work with you.

Good Luck. It does get easier and it will work out. Time and patience.

K:)
