A report has been received this morning that several cases of myxi have been seen by The Tawe Veterinary Practice in Swansea. All are domestic rabbits- some vaccinated and some not. A rabbit was also admitted to the same practice, and died from VHD.
Please ensure that your pet rabbits are vaccinated against both Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease.
Rabbits can be vaccinated against myxi from 6 weeks of age. Boosters are needed every 6 months. The VHD vaccine is an annual injection and may be given from 10-12 weeks.
