Sorry, I just had to start a topic about this. Has anyone here every watched or even heard of Mystery Science Theater 3000? It was a TV show in the late 80's through the 90's. It was awesome! It was basically about a guy who was stuck in space by a mad scientist. His punishment was that he has to watch all these crappy B-movies for all time. He was lonely, so he built himself some friends (Tom Servo and Crow). The whole show just shows them watching the movie (you see their heads and a row of movie-theater chairs silhouetted onto the screen) and you hear their funny/snarky little comments. We get the episodes through Netflix, and tonight we watched "The Giant Spider Invasion". That was great. Ahh, I can go to bed knowing that I laughed like a lunatic for at least twenty minutes today...

Anyone?

EDIT: Here is the link for info on it (from Wikipedia) = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_Science_Theater_3000

When I was in college,a fellow student/friend told me about it; I wound up watching several episodes and thought that it's not too bad. (But I hate B-grade movies, so that aspect made it less enjoyable for me.)

My hubby is a semi-fan of the show but stresses that he's "not a fanatic." :biggrin2:

Aww, that's no fun! I'm a fan of it, just not obsessed. I got Will semi-hooked on it as well. He likes their snarky comments too! He says they remind him of me. I grew up watching that show and stuff, so it probably helped form my sense of "humor.

That and Monty Python, Mr. Bean/Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, early 90's SNL, Mr. Bill, and a couple other shows that no one has ever heard of. I think the only one that people have heard of from that list would be SNL... :? Some people might know Mr. Bean (I know the people from the UK will!). Yeah...

Of the shows you've listed, Fawlty Towers is the only one that I've not seen, but I know of it. (I'm unfamiliar with the term Black Adder. Is it somehow related to Mr. Bean?)

I find the humor of those shows to be really good. I'm also a fan of Are You Being Served?, As Time Goes By, and Absolutely Fabulous. :)

Boo-yeah, Guys!
I know all those shows you're talking about, except for Mr. Bill.

If you like bizarre humor, you should listen to wiretap with me... :)

Am so addicted to it.. riding on the bus, listening to an episode, laughing WAY too loud...
Kelly, you sound like you might enjoy Amazon Women on the Moon...
Probably better with copious amounts of alcohol.

Also Elvira :)

Jenk, the girls in absolutely fabulous drove my mom insane.. thus, couldn't watch it with her around, at all.
Waldorf and Statler are my fav. two movie critics tho...

Black Adder was another series that Rowan Atkinson was in. He is the guy who played Mr. Bean. :)
I know Rowan Atkinson. Well, not personally. But I very much like him as Mr. Bean.

In college, I minored in Studio Art andoften wore my Mona-Beana shirt. It had a photo of the Mona-Lisa, only with Mr. Bean's face taped over it. I believe that he was wearing lipstick, too. And Mona-Lisa was crossed out to read Mona-Beana. My art history professor didn't know of Mr. Bean but was still amused. :)

I just love snarky characters. That's how I am! Will didn't quite get my sense of humor until I forced him to watch all my shows. He really likes MST3K, though. Which is good. We get them through Netflix, and we get a MST3K once out of every three videos. :) They don't have my favorite episode on DVD or VHS, either. I had to watch the illegal version on YouTube.
