I have 2 boys. They are brothers, born Nov 2008 (1.5 yr old now)...
They always got along for the most part, but lately they have been chasing each other and biting chunks of fur out. James even bit Hugh on the nose! I separated them, its been 2 days now and when I think it might be okay to have them together - Ill open the gate and within a minute, they are at each others throats again. I cannot keep them together, as they will NOT stop fighting. They are vicious and rest for 10 seconds at a time, I fear that theyll die from exhaustion or stress! They growl and lunge, and Ive never seen them so aggressive...
Now - I am wondering if it would be either of these things that set them off:
1) I took them to the vet the day before they started fighting like this to get their nails trimmed. However, they were together the entire time - carrier to and from etc... Maybe something happened at the vets?
2) Is it hormones? They are not neutered. I did schedule them for a neuter, coming up May 28... and this is the first yr that they are 'mature'.... so is it hormones kicking in?
If I keep them apart for too long, will it hurt their chances of bonding again? Sigh, I dont know what to do - and cleaning 2 litter boxes is no fun haha.
HEre are some pics of my naughty boys.... This is them super tired after fighting each other...
