MooMoo's midsection seems to be like it is beating, like her heart is in her stomach. She still eats and drinks and poops well. But she seems to be a little hesitant when trying to relax on the couch with me.

A few days ago I found a huge, dead grasshopper or locust in an Oxbow's Orcahrd Grass bag, as soon as I found that I stopped feeding it to her. Could there be an infection or anything?

She eats 1/4 cup of Oxbow's Bunny Basics / T a day.

Plenty of Organic Meadow, Orchard Grass, Western Timothy, and Oat hay all from Oxbow.

Oh and is it okay for a rabbit to live in a GARAGE?! Without the car. Just in a pen with a rug on the bottom.Because my dad is really stressing this because she is just shedding! But I've luckily prevented this.

Can you tell me the bad and the good of this?! (Probably no good.)

Please help! Thanks!!! I love my babies so much, and the vet is 40 miles away!

I think your just seeing her breathing or her heart beating. Sounds like she's fine if she's eating and drinking.

My buns are shedding bad too right now. IS the garage a permenant thing? I would be worried about the cold. If it's cold I would give her hay. Atleast she would have shelter from the wind. If you absolutely have to put her there, I don't see a problem since there's no car. Could you put her in your bedroom?

April:)

Thank you so much for replying! It is just that i've never noticed this before.

My buns live in the house right now. And yes it would be permanent for them to live in the garage.

But there is millions of bugs that can get to my rabbits. And the noisy environment of the garage door opening up and down for the humans to come inside isnt so good is it?

Im more worried about the heat in there, and lack or circulation?

What do you think?

And thanks again for replying, I appreciate it :)

I personally would never put my buns outside. But if you have no choice, your gonna have to makeit as comfortable for her as you can. Hopefully someone can give you some ideas. Since I know nothing about outside buns.

Maybe you should start a new thread to get some ideas. MAybe you can clean the garage the best you can. I would maybe put some vinyl flooring down with a rug and hay. And a house for her.

April:biggrin2:

If it's cold outside, the floor my be colder so putting her up off the floor may be best. IDK....

I would start a new thread and ask.... Good Luck :)

My bunnies are not outside. They never will be. Just in the garage, sigh. I'll see what i can do with my dad... If not, of course i will do my best to keep them warm and comfy.
Thanks :)_

I wasn't being rude. Sorry. I'm just saying I don't know about outdoor bunnies. I know hay will help keep her warm.Alotof people have outdoor buns on RO. Sorry if I came across rude.

I would post new thread asking for ideas. You may get some good suggestions. :)

Oh that's okay. Didnt think you were.
I dont either, or about garage bunnies.
I'll do that :)
Thanks a bunch, again, lol

Could you talk your dad into letting you keep her/ them in your room and vaccum a couple times a day? I know this is probably stressful for you cause you love your bunnies. I just noticed you have 6 buns.

Best of Luck! :)

Hmmm, Good idea, theres no room in my room lol, but i think i can put them in my brothers room (he is in college) and convince him if i clean everyday... Thanks! Ill let yu know how it goes :)

That would be awesome!!! Yes, let me know! :bunnydance::bunnydance:

I don't know what kind of cages you have but NIC cages you could build up so you don't have to use so much space. :)

I hope your dad will let you use his room!! :biggrin2:

Well... sadly theyre in the garage now... I couldnt convince him. But im going to get a screen to put over the whole pen and a AC/heater to keep ther temp stable at like 70 or 65. And Ill keep the windows open to keep it comfy and airy with lots of oxygen and no toxic fumes or anything. I just cleaned the whole garage up and my dad still wasnt impressed. But anyways he is always going to park his car outside which is good.
But i feel bad because My bunnies arent going to be involved with the family , you know, a part of our home in the living room or something. :/

By the way, They cant come inside to exercise anymore because of the hair, and the potential of one of the buns to doo or wee on the floor. Especially since moomoo peed on the microfiber couch. They shouldnt be punished for something that not their fault and cant help! UGh...

Sorry you had to put them in the garage. Sounds like your doing the best you can with the situation. If you have any questions just ask cause someone will help you. :)

Personally I think they are better off in the garage assuming they'll also be allowed plenty of out of pen time. While a stable temp may be comfortable to you rabbits prefer it cooler. I wouldn't heat the garage unless it goes below freezing. If you must heat it just heat it to 40. They would probably be more comfortablewith a lower temperature than warmer but too low humidity.

yes I know that, thanks that's why I'm getting the ac and heater to keep air cicrculation going good and to keep the humidty out. And the ac to like 65 on hot days just didn't want the temp to change so fast. They wouldn't be able to exercise alot because of my dad, but maybe outside but idk about the bugs??? That can like lay eggs on her or bite her and give her some virus?

Rabbits areNOT better off in a garage ; if this is the only arrangement that can be made then it is way better off being inside rather than outside in the elelments and with predators.
Mooniebud is doing the best that she can because of her dad and she is doing a good job of trying to figure out an acceptable way to keep rabbits in a garage but never would this be ideal.

Rabbits require some sunlight even if it is only window light and they will get very little of that in a garage.

I don't know what kinds of bugs you have there but chances are they won't be a problem if you keep the area clean. We have mosquitoes with West Nile virus and Deer ticksbut that won't keep me from going outdoors. I just be careful. Flies can be dangerous to dirty rabbitsbecause they will lay eggs in the vent area and the maggots will kill.

How much of the garage is you dad giving you? Maybe you can convert it into a game room so the rest of the family will be in there as well.

there's 4 decently big windows in the garage, they could get some sunlight. My dad gave me the whole garage but like half of it is the pen and the other half is the junk from my uncles house who got divorced and had to move in. That's a good idea about the game room! Butit is just me and my dad there, sometimes my bro and his wife comeover every other weekend.
the bunnies space are very clean, I meant when the only thing they can do to get exercise is go outside, where you really can't keep clean like mopping the lawn or something. We live here in Tennessee.

Angieluv - can you list more ways why a garage is not ideal for a rabbit other than the sunlight issue?
I mean I know that it is just not right and healthy for a rabbit to live in a garage, but I have no choice because of my germ fearing dad. Other than take my beloved pets to the shelter, where it is so overcrowded, they might not even mke it....
