My daughter's friend gave us a hamster 2 years ago and she has been so cute and playful. Lately sheis slowing down a lot now she is not eating or drinking as much and all she is doing is sleeping. She has got to be just over 3 years of age now. I know they don't live too long but it is still sad. She used to climb to the top of her cage begging to come out. Now she just wants to be left alone. We are just keeping her calm and happy as much as we can.

she is adorable and she is very lucky to have you in her senior months. Our hamster is only just over a year and is already an old grouch.

yea she is grumpy I don't pick her up no more but she still gets her treats and I talk to her. She is very jumpy with loud noise I feel so bad for her now all her black points look grey.

Awww, she's really cute. Its so nice to hear about a hamster that is so well cared for and treated with such great respect in her twilight years. They are special little creatures.

I'm sure she appreciates how well you care for her and how you guys don't push her to be more social than she can handle. I'm sure she knows she is cared for and loved.

I had my dwarf hamster live almost to 5...my first hamster..and I found it so unfortunate when my Syrian died at 1 1/2.

A good sign to look for is also thinning of fur and drying of skin...I see that a lot with aging hamsters.

I see you are feeding her corn and other treats. I suggest taking all of those out and feeding her only pellets and small amounts of seeds. They will prolong her life and is healthier..as fatty foods and corn can cause a lot of problems, esp for senior hamsters.

I don't feed corn at all to any of my hamsters.

I am sure she is very happy with the life you gave her! I hope she still hangs for for quite a bit. :)

Yea she started to loose her fur in the back about 3 or 4 mo ago and she don't open her eyes as wide anymore. Yes she is very happy and is very spoild. We love her and I know she knew that. Just hate seeing a loveing happy pet go down so fast I just hope she is not suffering.
