Chilean Rose Tarantula

G-rosea.jpg

I've never had a tarantula - very scary! The poor thing wasin a tiny container with no food or water. She enjoyed a verylarge cricket for dinner last night and is now living in luxury in a 10gallon aquarium habitat with moss, a "pond" and bark to climb on.

Also added a new frog to our amphibian collection, a tiny spring peeper. (We also have a gray tree frog and a wood frog.

Wow Pam, I really admire you for rescuing this..this..nope i've tried, I'm never going to like a spider!:D

But seriously though, you are really inspirational:angel:, you rescue so many animals! How many do you have?

The tarantula we have appears medium in size, soI'm guessing it may only eat a few large insects per week (from whatI've read).

We also took in 2 turtles a couple weeks ago (they are living in my kitchen LOL).

I set the wild toads free to go burrow for the winter (they eat a LOT of insects!)

We have 3 different species of frogs, a few newts, 3 different speciesof stick insects, tadpoles (and Matthew just caught a couplecrayfish). Unfortunately, the wood frog and praying mantisgot into a huge tussle and the praying mantis died :( Myhusband was rather upset, but I'm making a nice mount out of it.

The butterflies have all hatched and been set free.

Also have a dog, cat, and about 80 rabbits - I don't take in any mammals, just other misc. creatures ;)

Matthew said that one of his favorite activities is "Bug hunting with Mom". LOL

An entomologist is coming over next week - can't wait to see what surprises shebrings for me!

Pam
