Hello, i recently adopted a lop eared mix from the humane society in my area. His name is Benji. He warmed up quickly to me and my boyfriend and loved to explore around our apartment. He is not in his cage often only for bed. He recently changed his beahviour and instead of being adventerous and playful he has taken to a dark corner behind my couch where he lies and sits and stares at the wall, at first we thought he may be just bored so we bought some toys to play with. he is not interested at all. it is now sunday and i am sitting here looking for answers to this behaviour. why is he doing this? is it something medical that i should be scared for? Please help. Anything is appreciated thanks,!

Hi Sara, sorry to hear Benji's behaviour has changed.

Have you been feeding him the same food that he has been on. Maybe a diet change has upset his tummy. You said he is out of his cage most of the time, do you think he may have gotten into something?

Maybe a Vet check just to make sure every thing is ok.

Do you have any Ovol? It's a baby gas medication. It's very helpful if the bunny has gas. Also can you pick him up and give his tummy some rubbies.

Susan:)

Hello thankyou for the reply! he has a vet appointment today and i will be sure to let you know the results. benji really would rather not be picked up at all. i have only had him 2 weeks so hopefully he will be okay with me picking him up in the future!

- best regards, please keep in touch

First off, welcome to the forum!

Secondly, over time as far as handeling he'll learn to trust I think. YOu can try some *healthy* treats for him. {Nothing too loaded in sugar or anything.}. When i"ve had issues with bunnies hiding out etc. a few treats do the trick. :)

Let us know what happens with his vet visit and all.
