As promised there are some pictures of the nethies I brought back from the Harrowgate Show in England. By the way they were not impulse buys but I had made contact with a breeder and prearranged it.
This is Ember. She has been mated with another siamese sable buck and I should be having a litter at the end of February. She had two litters before

This is Pearl, my siamese smoke. She is only five months.

This is Hamish the stud:) He is a bit on the big side but he has the colouring I wanted.

And last but not least, Hugo, who I hadn't planned on buying but the breeder offered him to me and I reckon it's a good idea to have a back up. I am not sure if I use him for breeding but he may yet grow into his ears. He is only 8 weeks old and dead cute of course.

As you can see I am useless about posing the rabbits. I remember watching the breeder but didn't seem to get them into any sort of pose

My favourite is actually Ember. The picture doesn't do her justice. She has just amazing silky fur. I do hope I get a real typey buck from her litter.

Oh wow - I especially love Ember and Pearl - but I like all of them a lot. Lots of luck with your expected litter...may it all go well.

Oh your living my dream right now lol! Thanks for bringing decent nethies into the country! ;) They are all gorgeous.

Yes, the girls appear certainly neater. But Hamish was used as a stud buck by his old breeder, so he must be able to produce good enough offspring.
I am totally in love with both girls and keep sneaking out to marvel at them:)

My two cents/critiques:

Ember:
The head's decent, ears look a little funky (may be the picture), but I'm loving the color on her. Definitely a brood doe, but she looks like she'll throw some nice babies with the right buck. Was the buck she was mated with from your rabbitry, or the breeders?

Pearl:
Rockin' head. I'd love to see that head on one of my does. She almost looks like a buck! Her ears seem lightly furred though. I'd love to see her body mature more, and beef up a little. She looks tiny, but still looks long in the middle. Again, maybe it's the posing and she shrinks up when posed correctly. I will say, it's sad to see that the breeder didn't work with them enough that they just automatically pose on the table. At five months, are you breeding her soon? I'd love to see her babies, when you do!

Hamish:
Again, really good head. I'm actually jealous that my heard buck doesn't have that beefy of a head. His ears look a little odd, but nicely furred, and of decent length. His body, even in that position, looks pretty good. I'm sure, properly posed, he'd have a stunning topline. I'd kill to show him. He looks like he could give my best rabbit a run for his money.

Hugo, oh hugo:
For an 8 week old, he still has 8 more months of bone development. Hope it treats him well. XD What's the measurement on his ears? I'd be careful breeding him to the does. I'd hate to see the ears get too long to show. He looks like he's gonna have a decent head on him, but he's reaaaaally long in the middle. I'd keep watching him. I don't suspect he'll be a show bunny, but he might turn up to be a brood boy for ya, if he's ears don't get too long.

Don't take anything to heart. I'm only a year into breeding, so I'm no expert. Just my observations. May I ask how much you spent on the quad, all together?

Hi introoder, thanks for the critique.
Ember has been bred with a sable buck from the breeder's herd. I expect he used a typey one as he wasn't one for sale.
I would have loved if he had bred Pearl too but but he reckoned at five months she was too young. From what I've heard here many breeders prefer to start at that age but I have to go by his judgement. I was hoping to have the two girls pregnant at the same time so will have to wait till Ember has weaned off her kits (if all goes well)
I'll keep a buck (if there is a good one) from Ember's litter at least.
Hugo is only my back up in case Hamish doesn't live up to the job. I really need to learn to pose them properly as they are all over the place for me.

Hi Sabine, it was great to meet you at Bradford :D nice to see you got pics up I hope they settled in well for you :)

I wouldnt worry about posing your does but work with your young buck just a little every night when you are posing them use one hand ( whichever you are stronger with) and pull them to sit up by their shoulders keep your other hand in front of their nose to keep them still once he is sitting up use the hand you had over his shoulders to push his bum in if he has his head down to far or his head stuck out like he is pushing his head forward just take the hand in front of his face to nudge his nose into position once there make sure his ears are sitting together.

I hope that will mae sense to you lol if you just do it a couple of minutes every night he will soon pose once he has posed put him back to his bed gradually they sit for longer and longer spells of time :D

I do like the little smoke doe she is def the nicest :) just keep an eye on the ears of any babies anything over or at 2" by 8 weeks old sell on as pets as they will grow longer still. remember the ears grow till they are 12 weeks then stop and thats the maximum length they get to then the rest of them will grow up to fill out. I alwasys say nethies are lie fine wine they need a good bit of time to mature and get to their best so if they look nice at 4 -5 weeks then go a bit gawky dont get to upset of course the best ones never get a gawky stage lol but they are few and far between :p

I got a couple of pics of 2 I bred at the end of last year so are just coming up 5 months if I get this silly new camera sorted later I will post the pics up and show you how they look and tell your their faults ;) its a good learning curve :)

Thanks, Polly, for the advice on posing. I'll try practicing with Hugo:) I measured his ears and they are just under 2". If they don't grow much more and he fills out a bit he may yet be a nice little buck. I will certainly hang onto him for a while as I won't come by much better that soon.
I'd love to see a picture of the nethies you bred. I still need loads of practise in spotting the strength and weeknesses.
