Hi,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I live in El Paso Texas. I just moved here in September and my plan had been once we arrived here I would finally adopt a bunny. I looked into rescues first. Found nothing within a decent driving distance. Most at least a couple hours away. Finally, decided to go with a breeder. Found nothing local! I was getting so frustrated! Everywhere else I've lived Rabbits are plentiful to adopt and or buy from breeders or even pet stores! Here it's another story! I couldn't seem to respond to ads on Craigslist quickly enough! I am not the only person in this city desperate for rabbits!
Finally, I found a breeder an hour and half away. So, Saturday I will pick up my reserved bunny (in my avatar). She is a Netherland Dwarf mixed with a Mini-Satin. I want her to have a friend but this breeder has only boy bunnies left in a couple other litters for dwarf sized bunnies. And I dont want to keep them separated until they are "fixed". They will both be 8 weeks old so that is a month keeping them separate. Just not something I want to do so I would want both girls. And I'm a bit intimidated to adopt one of her larger breed bunnies. She has a Champagne D'Argente mixed with New Zealand litter ready to go. I just not sure what we'll decide. We move around a lot (military) and though I am not the type to ever give up my animals due to a move I do try to keep my pet choices on the smaller size. I traveled from Maryland to El Paso with 2 gerbils, four hamsters, and 2 small children driving by myself! It was CRAMPED!
So I try to keep that in mind. But perhaps bigger bunnies aren't all that much more space in a vehicle.
I babble and worry and think too much as you can see but anyway I am happy to find this forum and hope to learn a LOT.
My blog is http://hammyhappenings.wordpress.com if anyone wants to see the process of my x-pen/NIC style cage building. I've already made adjustments to it that I have not posted yet since I am possibly bringing home two instead.
