My jaw is killing me!

So, I am a softball player. Yesterday was our first practice of the season. I did pretty good considering i havent thrown or hit a ball since last season. But, the last time I went to bat, I hit the ball and it tipped off the top of my bat and came soaring backwards and hit me in the mouth. Busted my lip and my gums were bleeding. My husbands plays on the team also and he came running because he was sure I had busted out some teeth. Thankfully I didnt. But it did knock me silly because I had no idea that I was laying on the ground or how I got on the ground. Needless to say, my jaw and mouth are killing me. It hurts to talk and chew. I cant open my mouth up very much because it hurts. My chin and lip and really bruised this morning. Ive been putting ice on it and taking advil. Any other suggestions??

Sorry you are hurting. Sounds like a good excuse to get yourself flowers.

Eating through a straw sounds good, broth as well as shakes. Tomorrow I'm having a dental crown replaced & another tooth will get one [3-hr appointment], so I'll be thinking of you while I'm having it done.

Did you go and have it checked out to make sure you didn't break something? I got hit in the face with a soccer ball a few years back and went a few days very very sore and I finally went and had an xray and my cheek bone was cracked! Never knew a soccer ball could do that lol
Either way I hope you feel better really soon!

Thanks everyone! No i havent had it checked but every minute that goes by, Im thinking I should because when I move my jaw it feels like its grinding. Im thinking when my husband gets home from work this afternoon Im gonna go get an xray

Definitely, if you was a rabbit we would be posting vet ASAP. Look after yourself and go get an x-ray. Straws and food in the meantime, maybe some over the counter anti inflamatory drugs. I would be trying to very gently rinse my mouth with a salt water solution. Ice pack your face with a bag of frozen peas.

hahaha that cracked me up!! Thanks Alma. Im definitely gonna get an x ray and make sure nothing is broken. The bruising is getting worse so its scaring me...heres a pic of what it looks like right now

That looks very, very sore. Make sure you go with the frozen peas or hash browns as an ice pack. Need to get some of the swelling down. Let us know how you make out at the"vet". lol
