I went to my first rabbit show today.I promised Basil I'd check it out before I decided to show her forsure. I got there late, long store, but I did get to talk toa few breeders. Mambo was there and I met the woman her gotFonzi from. She had the most gorgeous blackflemish. She let me hold him and it was all I could do not totake him and run. LOL
I told myself I wasn't going to bring anything home, and I almostsucceeded. First I saw the cutest cream d'argents and Ialmost had to have one, but I decided I should research the breedbefore jumping in. (Although, I've decided if I want to show,I'd rather show bigger bunnies, they're just calmer.) I wasleaving and I stopped to admire some mini rex. I startedtalking with the breeder and the next thing I knew she was handing meone of her for sale does to hold. Well, she was just thesweetest girl. The breeder was selling her because she's alittle big for show and her ears are a little long, but for a pet bun,she was just wonderful. I was just about to set her down andsay no, I'm just not taking anything home today, when the breeder saidthat she was just looking for a good home for her and she knewIwould give her one, so if I wanted her, I could just haveher. How do you turn down a free bunny? I couldn'tseem to find it in me. So, she's the new old lady of thehouse and she's only just about 1 year. She has to mail methe pedigree but showed me the pedigrees for both herparents. She has really good blood lines, just bigears. LOL Now she just needs a name.
My goal of the show was to decide if I want to show Basil, and I'm justnot sure she would like it. She'sa bit of ahomebody and doesn't necessarily like anyone but her Mommy, so I thinkshe's going to decline to be a show bunny. Besides, I'dend-up with a barn full if I kept going to shows.LOL I think I'll still breed her and see what I get, maybeI'll come up with a show bunny from her litter.
