I'm so excited!

My Grandparents just bought me my first car!!!!

We've been searching a lot recently. I take my test next year (hopefully early Jan) but I really really really want something to practice in, because I can't afford driving lessons at £40 a week, and petrol is about that much a month...!

I can't pick it up till Friday :( Tomorrow is hectic and Tuesday eve we're driving 5 hours to Sheffield to look at Sheffield Hallam Uni on Wed, then driving to Manchester Met Uni on Thursday to look there, then driving home! So Friday is the day.

Eeeek! *attempts to contain excitement* I CAN'T DO IT!

Lol, I just saw your Facebook status and figured there must be a thread somewhere!!

Congrats!!! :highfive:

So nice of your grandparents as well :D

And I noticed that you blanked out the numberplate (perfectly understandable) and then it reminded me of the thread Ali had about her new car and all the stalking jokes that there were... and I got the giggles! :p

Holy cow !

*sits here and looks out the window at my car, an '85 Honda Civic, looks back at this thread and goes green with envy*

You are so lucky! What a cute car, oh man, and for a first car, woohoo! You're gonna love driving it :D.

Yeah I thought I should blank it out. I've already named her although I have never met her. It has to be a girl cos its a girly car, and I'm naming her Elise because the numberplate is 'RLS'. When I said that my mum said 'Aww..Elise!' Everyone has to name their first car right? My friends is called Bernard...

Your car is cute! (I just searched it). My wee car is cute, my Nan said on the phone its definitely a girly car, its all curvy. You should see the inside. Not a straight line in sight!

Thats an awesome car, and so flash for a first car. What sort is it?I'm driving an 83 Nissan Sunny hand painted yellowmy brother scored it for $20 bucks for me...The shame..:baghead

You can play music :shock:Lol the best I can do is sing haha, feel sorry for the people at the lights :p

Edited to fix spelling

Why, oh why, can't Ford put out cars this cute in the States? I might even get past my anti-domestic predjudices for something this cute! I looked it up, and found that the 2009 Ka might be released in the States, but I'm sure the fuel efficiency will not be nearly as good as the UK models. :X You're so lucky, Fran!

That is a nice car! You are so lucky that your grandparents bought it for you! I wish I could have a car like that!

Its a Ford Ka. Its gorgeous but it really isn't anything special! Its not flashy at all! Doesn't even have a CD player.... only a tape player!

I think that's better in a way... you can put your own in and you can make sure you choose a really good one! Or if you get your iPod for Christmas you can get stereos that have an iPod lead coming out of them and you can plug that in

I really like Ka's- I remember trying one out when I was getting my first car but for some reason I kept banging my head on the side lol!

I'll probably get one of those cassette tape thingies that plug into your iPod, or get one of those radio transmitter ones. I like listening to the radio anyway and I probably won't want to listen to loads of music until I pass..

Eek I'm so excited! I don't know if my Mum will let me drive it home from where we are picking it up. (Orpington, about 25 minutes away). We bought the insurance today.

LOL, I'll enquire about the adoption! The thing about my Grandparents is that they are very well off but won't give you a penny unless you deserve it! Most Grandparents will probably go to their Grandchildren 'Oh, here's a fiver' or take them shopping and buy them something nice. My Grandparents would NEVER do that, but then they will get you amazing things like this one day! Makes you appreciate it so much more!

We're going out driving again soon. I drove to the supermarket last night, so much easier when I know where I'm going!

When we went out yesterday my Mum didn't want to take me on the main road because its 'too dangerous' so she took me another way, except she forgot that there is this complete hairpin turning onto a huge, busy A road. So I come to this junction and have to do a full lock to the left to get around the corner, AND I still manage to cross over onto the other side of the road its so tight... luckily there is a car wanting to come in the same turning blocking traffic for me, otherwise it would have been very risky! I told my Grandparents after and they both said 'I always avoid that route because that turning is so dangerous!' My Grandad even said that he thinks is the most dangerous turning in the whole of Kent! Thanks Mum!
