I've been helping out at a local bird rescue. Peppers, one of the Red Lored Amazons has decided that I am his buddy. I had my camera with me last time and got a few pictures of him to share. . .

Unfortunately my camera died after I got those so I didn't get any of the other birds but I will bring it back next time and get some more for you guys.

I'm positively terrified of birds, but he is quite the looker. Gorgeous, really.

I'd definitely be interested in seeing some of the other birds as well. (Just as long as I don't have to see them in person :p.)

Next to bunnies birds are my next love. I have had my own in years. The last two I lost broke me. They were my world. I miss them so much.:(

Give him a treat for me. I miss my birds.

WHAT A HUNK!! He is so handsome!!

I grew up with cockatiels...and I just LOVE any kind of parrot! They're so neat...such personality! :)

I love when a birdie falls for a human and decides, "You're mine..." So sweet!

I didn't think I would be scared of them but when I first started going out there I was definately scared of the big Macaws and Umbrella cockatoos. They can definately be moody and could really hurt you if they tried but most of the time they are just big lovebugs.

Will do! I stocked up on almonds and nutriberries and made some birdie bread for next time I go out there.

I've never been chosen by a bird before but there is no doubt he thinks I'm his. Before I went out there, he never let anyone get too close and always bit at everyone as they went by. The first time I opened his cage, he just stepped right up and the woman who runs the rescue was amazed. We are actually worried that if I don't bring him home, he will get depressed so basically my choices are 1) bring him home, 2) quit volunteering.

Aww he wants to come be your forever birdie!
He does, and I think he's going to get his wish. I love him already and Matt is actually really excited about having a feathered buddy. We are for sure not moving to CO and we found a house big enough so thathe will have his own room and the bunnies will have their own room.

lol, you can try but I don't think it would work out too well for you. . . He's sort of my guard bird.

Birds are so fantastic! I have 2 zebra finches that found me! One day at my office "Charlie" just flew up to me in a panic - like he was saying "help me! help me!".. So I opend our conference room door - he walked in (litterally just over the threshold); I ran down to the pet store and bought him a cage, food (after figuring out what he was as his picture was on the food) and he's been the office bird for almost a year now. I later got him a girlfriend and their currently raising their 4th clutch of babies (donate the chicks to local rescue pet store who sells them for $20)..

Birds do seem to pick their humans - fascinating creatures and parrots are some of the best - they are SO smart. Enjoy your new bodyguard and definetly send photos and tell us more of his personality!

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah :shock:He is absolutely gorgeous!!!! I miss my cockatiels but I am wayyyyy too allergic :(I love love love your bird! Look at those colors. :biggrin2:
