OK, I'm home all day, I have nothing to do. On Mondays, I make a meal plan for the week, and make the marinades early, get things prepared so I can cook them up fast. Today, I decided to make bulgogi. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's a Korean beef dish. It is sometimes called Korean Barbecue. The recipe I have calls for beer, so I use some. I have some left over, so I decide to make chicken fajitas on Friday (that recipe uses beer, too!). I am done making the bulgogi, so I start on the fajita marinade. I chopped up some jalapeno peppers, then sneezed. Oh, crap. I touched my fingers to my face to stop me from sneezing on the food, and yeah, it got all over my lips. Normally, that's OK, I can eat habenero peppers in food, this shouldn't be a problem. The air is dry here, and my lips are cracked.

It's been 20 minutes, and my lips are still tingling. Ahh, what a wonderful day. :grumpy:

OK, MATURE READERS ONLY!

I'M SERIOUS!

Once, Will was helping me clean and chop habanero peppers. He forgot to wash his hands and went to the bathroom. We heard a blood-curdling scream from the bathroom a few moments later. He got the capsaicin (oil from the peppers) all over his shenanigans.

He was not a happy camper.

If someone deems this too "naughty" for the forum, I'll delete it :p

:roflmao: I'm sorry if I offend anyone by finding this hilarious.

Oh man! That's pretty darn funny! Hehe, I bet he wasn't a happy camper.

So how are you are you lips still cracked/hurting?

The only remedies for hot pepper "burn" that I have found to work are bread and milk (the fattier, the better). I drank some milk, but it only helped a little. The burning went away within an hour.

Will's ego, however, will probably take longer to heal lol

Yeah... That happened over a year ago. He had a similar incident a few months back - just not as bad as the first one. I don't let him live it down. There are a lot of things I don't let him live down... Like when he had to go to the hospital for his back hurting, and they gave him an injection of Valium... in his bum. Poor guy. The look on his face was PRICELESS!

I still think the pepper story is hilarious, even a year later!

I finally invested in a box of disposable vinyl gloves that I keep in the kitchen to use when I cook with hot peppers. I have noticed, though, that husband has been using them when he cleans out litter boxes, even though I got him the heavy-duty yellow gloves for that. :X I think if the gloves are out next time I need to chop hot peppers, he will be doing that for me.

Lemon juice for the burns.... fresh if possible.... and rub your hands with olive oil to get the chilli off. Works every time! :D

and LOL at poor Will!

I'd LOVE to see Will try that remedy, Jen! lol

I will have to try the oil on the hands one next time. I have such small hands, most disposable gloves don't fit right (sm. & xs are way too tiny) so I never use gloves. I just risk doing something stupid. :p
