Hi again,

I have another question. My doe is 5 weeks old. She is a holland lop. I got her from the breeder so I do indeed know she a lop! My question is that her ears aren't down yet. How long will they take to go down? And is there a possibility that they will always stay up?

Thanks!

if she is super tiny, then they may helicopter (stick out to the sides) but they will generally fall. she is pretty young to be away from mom though.

I have posted some pictures in the gallery. Please let me know if you guys can see them!

I thought 5 weeks was pretty young to be away from her mom too, but the breeder said she could go! She will be 6 weeks this coming Tuesday :)

Breeders aren't right all the time. 5 weeks is too young, but there is nothing to be done about that now.

It looks to me like Lemon's ears have already started to drop. Most rabbits whose ears stay up will have ears that stick almost straight up, but Lemon's ears are already hanging off to the sides. Her ears should finish dropping soon.

Here is a picture :) I will love her the same if her ears stay up but I would prefer them down as it took me a long time to find my perfect little doe :)

It's fine to wean rabbits at 5 weeks (but not recommended earlier than 4 weeks). It's generally recommended to wait until they are older before selling them due to the stress. The younger the bunny is when it is sold, the higher the mortality rate.

Just watch her for constipation, meaning cannot poop. I got Sweetie when she was 6 weeks and by 8 weeks she had constipation. I gave her a little apple and she pooped. But that is because she was introduced to carrots when she was young before I got her. Plus I kept an eye on her when I gave her a piece of apple. I took her to the vet to get checked jsut in case there was anything else going on with her.

So far shes good! I was told no veggies until shes 12 weeks old. Right now she has unlimited timothy hay, pellets and a tad of quarker oats :)

Rabbits need to be fed alfalfa hay until six month old for the fat content. I got my girl at 5 weeks and had no choice but to take her that early. She had some poop problems and she is a little over attached to me plus she greatly dislikes other rabbits. Your baby is adorable by the way.

Hmm, alfalfa eh? I went to school to be a Vet Tech and was told no alfalfa? I do have some on hand that I use occasionally if Citrus decides to be stubborn and not want the timothy. I can try Kiwi on the alfalfa. Im sure she will love it :)

She doesn't need alfalfa hay if she's getting alfalfa pellets. But generally young ones need the extra protein and calcium in alfalfa because they're growing so fast. Make sure she has plenty of fresh water. Definitely watch for signs of stasis. And any signs of watery stool, take her to a rabbit savvy vet immediately!

She's very cute!

You are good with the timothy hay. Sweetie and Prince both got timothy hay when I got them. I got Sweetie at 6 weeks and Prince was about 2-3 months. They haven't had alfalfa hay since they were young.

I did put a little alfalfa in Prince's hay ball when he was having his "tic" episodes, but they have resided and haven't returned since then. So I think he had a calcium deficiency for a bit. I keep an eye on him for the tic episodes and I will get alfalfa hay or something with calcium in it to give to him but not until then as he is 2 years old right now.

I was wondering what you guys thought of the picture I posted. Does she look like a lop to you? All the other babies she was with at the breeder, their ears were down and they did look a like so I didn't consider the possibility that she might not be a Lop? The breeder said she was so I believed her.

Does anyone on her have a lop with ears that are up?

And sweetie, what is a 'tic' episode? If you look at my other post titled 'odd behavior with head/neck'. Did your bunny have any
Of those symptoms?
