We are in the process of moving and while we were taking some furniture out to the truck, one of my cats ran out and we didn't notice. He has been missing for several hours now... we were out looking and putting up signs and asking neighbors for close to 3 hours. No one has seen him. I also posted on facebook and craigslist. He has been an indoor cat all of his life and is declawed. He also has a medical condition that requires special food. Poor boy is probably terrified. :(

We stopped looking for now but we have our door open and cat food and water set out. I don't know what else to do... He and my other cat are really bonded and she cries if she can't find him so she's probably going to be upset when she can't find her sleeping buddy...

I got ticked off earlier when we were out looking because we drove past a mom and her 2 kids and she had let the kids tear down at least one of the signs and they were playing with the tape. I don't know why a mom would be okay with her kids tearing down a lost animal sign. Maybe it's just me, but I find that rude and disrespectful.

Sorry for the long ramble...I just miss my cat alot....

I am wishing you and your cat the best of luck. I hope he finds his way home safely or is found safe and returned by someone. There are plenty of people out there that do cares for animals and will take in and try to find the owner of a lost pet. I myself have returned several dogs over the years to their owners.

I can understand you feeling that way about the mom and kids. She should be teaching her children compassion and explaining to her children why the post is there instaed of allowing them to tear it down.

I'm so sorry. I hope you can get your cat back. There are a lot of people who will try to find the owner of the missing pet like Denise said. I'm so sorry. I'll be praying for him to return.

We found him last night! SO relieved. I'm embarrassed to admit that we found him inside. Both my mom and I searched our entire house multiple times, including under my bed where we found him. He is a massive cat so I don't know how we didn't see him. We were calling for him like crazy and shaking the cat treat bag which he normally comes out running if he hears it. We had taken a break from searching and I was laying in bed and my mom walked in to tell me something, then my cat emerged and stretched and yawned with a look like "well that was a nice nap". My mom grabbed him and started bawling into his fur and he gave us a look like "dude. really?" He has no idea what we went through looking for him. We had 25 signs put up on posts and we put a bunch by neighbors' doors and windshield wipers. We also searched a huge cow pasture, woods, and sewage/drainage ditches and tunnels. All on foot.
I even missed visiting with a dear family friend who was in town from Israel because i was out looking for my creep of a cat. I haven't seen my friend in about 6 years and he probably won't be back in town for at least another 3 years.
It was kinda weird at the time but it makes sense now that my other cat wasn't upset. It's because she knew he was in the house. They adore each other and she is obnoxiously clingy with him. Like if he is in my room and she wants him in another room with her, she will cry outside my door until either he gives in and goes out to be with her or I give him the boot because her crying got annoying. He had to spend a few days at the vet recently and we literally had to take shifts with her because she was inconsolable. I don't know how she would have ever recovered if we didn't find him yesterday.
I am very glad to have my cat "back" tho, even tho he technically was never gone. I really thought he was and that I was never going to see him again.

I am so happy for your cat, you and the rest of your family that your cat is fine and safe. In future when packing up to move you could either place your cats in a cage or empty one room to lock them in or lock them in a bathroom just to be on the safe side. I know with cats that have always been indoors sometimes we take for granted they will stay put.

So glad you found your cat safe & sound! Moving & changes always upset our pets so it is easy for them to want to find a place to hide. If possible you may want to keep your cats in a room with the door closed & a do not open/disturb sign on the door while you are busy packing & getting ready for your move. Spend time with them reassuring them everything is okay & explain you are all going to a new home together. Hope the rest of your moving will go smoothly.
