Hi, as per title, when I came to pick up my lop girl about a month ago I found it is difficult to breath in their living room and the cage with her and her mum was there all the time, I am not asking is it bad I know it is, but what health issues can it cause for the bunny and how to take care of her to prevent/minimize risks.
She (she was given to me as a boy so I thought it's a boy until about two weeks ago) was a bit defensive and scratching/biting time to time, I think they had nephews that weren't nice to her and a small non-stop barking dog so she was really nervous when I brought her home. Her urine was thick almost orange very smelly, quite different from my other (dwarf/lionhead tiny) rabbit but she's a lop (I was also told she's mini-lop) and growing bigger so I thought it is normal maybe.
Since last Sunday her urine is not so thick and a couple days was almost like melon juice and smelled like a perfume more than urine and she started peeing everywhere outside oh her toilet. She built nest Saturday night started pulling her fur and was very nervous Sunday I really worried about her but Monday morning she looked like normal and back to her normal size and had great appetite and was happy and active until late night or it was actually around 3 am already, she was so weak I kept her wrapped on my lap then put back to cage with a blanket and a couple of hot bottles around that was around 5 am I was falling myself. She usually eats a lot but yesterday ate only less than a half of her pellets but had appetite for gem lettuce and drunk well.
Today she's not looking great her fur is all patchy she's not pulling it now though an looking a bit oily she's not very active and she didn't drink for a few hours so I changed the bottle water to water bowl she drinks but not much, well maybe normal.
She urinates in the middle of her floor her urine doesn't smell strongly but looks and smells more like urine, got more colour, maybe she does into her boxes too, I gave her an extra box so she has more hay in both and one I've made off the plastic storage box so she'd feel warmer and more protected there.
Her poop was mostly soft on Monday but yesterday it was absolutely normal dry poop and a lot, today it is normal poop too, the only unusual that she was trying to eat her dry poops and I didn't see cecotropes at all.
Sunday night I gave her 150 ml of chamomile tea and she drunk about 100 ml over night, yesterday was everything normal and she was relaxed not aggressive I thought her false pregnancy is gone. I gave her some dried herbs, thyme, mint, she enjoyed and asked for more, ate celery as well she preferred fresh food now but eats her pellets too, maybe a bit less than usual. I gave her two large cranberries Sunday night as well, she liked them too, today I gave one she didn't want it. I made her cranberry tea she didn't drink it so she drinks water now.
I couldn't find a proper rabbit doctor called a few vet clinics but no luck, so we have an appointment with vet tomorrow, never been to vet before so we'll see.
Just thinking it was a false pregnancy but she didn't look ill just I've read about false pregnancies it is not uncommon and stressful of course but it's gone now, what's going on now with my little girl why the complications after that, just weakened immune system probably urination problems and remembered that she lived with heavy smokers for first 9 weeks it could also add to it
