So my rabbits food looks so plane. I dont give much Veggies, just once and a while..
anyways, Since there food is so boaring id like to spice it up a bit for them..you know, make food time a good time for them. What can i put in there food that is ok to give to them all the time for regular food with there pellets? like something to mix in?
And how much of that can i give them?

thanks

Sometimes I add a few alfalfa pellets to their regular timothy pellets in my mix. I would also give them a pinch of oats, a few sunflower seeds, some flaxseed, and what ever other pellets I may have. :)

Dillan gets rolled oats and barley in her mix. She picks all the oats out and then she eats the pellets and barley evenly.

Since she is not that old I do not give her many veggies, either, but she gets grass(comman and english plantain, dandilion greens, clover leaves) twice a day as well as golden rod flower and leaves, dandilion flowers and clover flowers one-two of the three types once a day.

I wouldn't give seeds all the time--just during molts. Timothy and alfalfa hay cubes are good treats to add. Plain pellets may look boring, but they're nutritious and I've never heard of a bunny complaining because their food didn't look good! My guys go NUTZ for pellets. I feed 50/50 Oxbow BBT/Purina Hi-Fiber Lab Diet (that one's alfalfa-based). If you mix things in there, especially with younger bunnies like yours, they may selectively eat what they think tastes good, which may not be what's nutritious for them. Your guys are so young as to be having as many alfalfa pellets as they can eat at this stage.

Personally, I wouldn't mix anything with pellets. If I want to give my bun a bit of dried papaya or something as a treat, I'd rather give it by hand because it's fun and builds his trust. And treats aren't good for rabbits anyway except in small quantities, so I'd stick with plain pellets. Some people do add oats or a sunflower seed, but I honestly don't think these are necessary or even healthy for most lazy house buns. These extras should probably be saved for breeding rabbits or those living outside who need more calories to stay healthy.

And my bun loves pellets! I now use extra pellets almost exclusively for treats when I'm training him or just sitting on the floor with him. He goes crazy for pellets and doesn't even notice that his treats are exactly the same as his regular food. And I feel more comfortable using a bit of his regular food as "treats" instead of something super sugary like a craisin.
