Ever since Salem moved in Moses is not clean anymore.

So the two live in a seperate room now where they have 2 litterboxes. Everytime I saw them using it I gave them a treat.

Problem is, now everytime they see me they jump into the litter box expecting a treat :?, Moses is real crazy he jumps from one litter box to the other hoping to get 2 treats like that...:huh

Over the daytime when they expect treats they use the litter box but at night theyre just dirty :sigh

Do you guys maybe have any ideas of how to teach them right from wrong?

"Gimme treat!"

I'm not sure i understand the problem, but i'd stop giving them treats & see what happens.

The use of treats as rewards is unnecessary, because it's a rab's natural instinct to go in one place. It's just a question of getting them started., & normally some poo & pee placed in the box will get them going.

Make sure you clean the dirty guy to prevent fly infestation.

I tried it without treats before but they didnt follow their natural instinct.

I also tried placing pee and poo in the box. They use the toilet sometimes..but other times they just use the floor..-_-

They get cleaned twice a day so no flies .

No, Salem just got here a couple of weeks ago and is ready to get neutered on wednesday (thats when I made the appointment).

I hope once the little guy is neutered Moses will calm down and be clean again.:(

When males are not neutered they are really messy. when around another bun. It is either hormones or territorial behaviour or both. I have found that 2 neutered males together( Bonded)continue to be messier than one alone. Maybe it is just my buns . But I have heard others tell me of similar behaviour . They never will be as messy as unneutered males (spraying etc)

2 things that may help- how do you clean? Do you use vinegar to clean the cage floor? That gets rid of the smell, so it prevents the rabbits from thinking "Hmm, I should pee here."

Another thing is hay. Do you have hay in the litterbox or in a hayrack above it? That helps a lot.

Since one just got neutered and the other one hasn't been yet, it might take a while for their hormones to decrease. Right now they're probably busy marking their territory.

I use lemon cleanser and bleach. Hm..I dont smell anything but the bunnies probably can..

No I usually have the hay somewhere in the middle of the room. But I will try that with the hay above the litter box. Thanks.

Yeah I hope so too that they just mark their territory right now and will be nice and clean when salem is neutered.

My rabbits poop wherever the hay is, so putting it in the litterbox will definately help. That's how Fey and Sprite learned to use litterboxes, because they had never seen them before. But that's where the hay was, so that's where they pooped!:D

with Tallulah it took me ages to litter train her but with alot of hardwork
and determination
i got there in the end, but now she's only gone and started pooing in her bed again which means she's sleeping in her litter tray...again!:foreheadsmack::grumpy
