So yesterday evening, I tried to feed pumpkin a treat and some leafy greens. For the first time in his life, he refused the treat and all but like 2 leaves of the salad. I put him in a separate cage for overnight with a treat, some leafy greens and some water and pellet food. After a couple hours, I saw he had eaten all the leafy greens and a bunch of hay. He ate more hay and leafy greens overnight, and pooped and peed a normal amount. I think he ate some pellets but I'm not sure. I had the intentions of calling the vet first thing in the morning, but now I'm wondering if I still should. He has been acting normal the whole time, but it
was very unlike him to turn down food. He did accept a treat this morning, however. I would appreciate all advice. Thanks

Sarah

It's possible he was just full which is why he wasn't eating when you offered him a treat. I personally wouldn't call the vet

Yes, maybe he was full of hay or something when you tried to treat him. One way you can be sure is to completely clean out his litterbox and poop area and wait for the new poops. Then give them a good poop examination.

If he is eating, drinking, and pooping, you'll just want to keep a really close eye on him for the next few days. Make sure he continues to eat and poop, and if anything seems off take him to your vet.

This happened to my bun, too. My vet said that they go through phases with their pellets and treats. He compared it to humans...even if pizza was your favorite food, could you actually eat it everyday for your entire life? Probably not. As long as your rabbit is drinking, eating veggies/greens, and hay, all is fine.

I'd just keep my eye on him and take him in if it progresses or if he has a lot of little episodes like this. Otherwise don't worry.
