So I just cleaned my buns cage and instead of putting newspaper in her cage, I put a fleece blanket and a litter box. She isn't litter box trained, but we're working on it. She seems to be doing alright with it.
She doesn't seem to like the blanket though. I don't want the newspaper anymore, it was a mess. She is staying on the side of the cage without the blanket, with the hay and litter box. And every time I walk into the kitchen, she just looks at me like "mom, why did you change my cage?" She's already moved to litter box to the 'right' place in her cage, which is fine.

It was a throw blanket, that you use when you're sitting on the couch. I cut it in half (hamburger style) because it seemed too big to put the whole thing in there. I folded the half in half and it fits in the cage perfectly. It seems like she has enough cushion. I guess its going to take her a little while to get used to it.

I'm about to build her a NIC cage. I've been waiting because I thought we were moving. But, we aren't. So her new cage will be coming soon. (fingers crossed) I'll put fleece in her NIC cage, so I would like her to get used to the blankets before the cage is built; so she has something of hers in there.

Will she get used to the blanket?

I put a fleece blankie in one of my buns cages as well as their carrier. The two blankets are identical, but they love it in the kennel, and hate one in the cage. They hate it so much they promptly pee on it. They dig around and flop on the other one. I don't get it!

Maybe it's just bun preference. I bet she'll get used to it :)

I went into the kitchen this morning and she was laying on the blanket. We left our windows open last night, so it was a little chilly in the house. So I think she got a draft and got on the blanket. Shes adjusted it now, so its just right for her. The only problem is, she isn't litter trained and I'm working with her, so she moved the blanket to poop on the floor of the cage. hahahaha. I guess its better than on the blanket!
