Woke up this morning to clean the cage as I do daily, and found her not moving her lower half. ! she is STILL eating and drinking as normal and pooing. still trying to do things but the lower half wont agree. she can turn around and hobble to get places. :(

Took her to the vet and they said she had pulled a back muscel or sprained her back. And she had a muscel spazim when the vet touched a certain spot.

She didnt really explain to me that well. But said if it didnt heal in a week that I should put her down.

Im praying it is a sprain just like humans:pray:.

She is on anti-inflammatory/pain killer. Called loxicon i think. I cant read her writing.

Is this common?, has anyone else experienced this? :(

Poor baby :(I hope she recovers! Rabbits are fragile(though they don't seem to think so!)and unfortunately back/spinal injuries do happen. I have no experience with it so I can't tell you moer than that really. I don't know if anyone here has had a bun recover but I am sure somepeople here have knowledge of back injuries. Hopefully, they can help you out.

Keeping you guys in my thoughts!

don't put her down!!!! i read a story about a bun that was paralysed from the waist down and he had a LITTLE TRAILER that attatched to his back and he pulled himself around on his front legs.

get to a rabbit savvy vet asap. but i will try to find you the article and hopefully it can give you some hope :)

has she had a fall or anything?

Hi! I suspect she has:?, she lives in a doll house and once i found her on top of it god knows how she even got up there! the doll house is in her giant hutch which use to be my bird avery.

Thanks so much!

It's one thing to be dealing with permanent paralysis if there is no pain however most often the issue is pain management. Since she is on a pain killer, I can imagine that is why the vet suggested it may be the thing to do if she doesn't recover. I do hope others reply though in case there might be any hope for hereven if she doesn't recover fully.

Woke up today 6.30am and just checked on her, she is now slowly hopping around the house, looking fwd to tomorow hopefully shell be even better:pray:, shes stil quite slow and her balance is stil a bit off but she is hopping! yesterday she cudnt hopp at all, so she has made huge progress

Is the anti-inflammatory/pain med called meloxicam, perhaps? That's a common, reliable drug for bunnies. That's about all you can do for her right now, other than giving her time to heal without the ability to move all over. Her movement should be restricted somewhat while she's healing. She may regain function as time goes by.

I hope she gets better. I would question only giving her a week to heal. That's seems a little unrealistic to me. If she has a chance, I'd say give it to her. You might regret putting her down after only a week.

I definitly wont be doing that till absolute last resort and longer then a week i agree!! will update tomorow morning on more progress.

Going to be bonding a friend for her in a couple of weeks. Asumming she makes full recovery that is. Well attempt to anyways. The new female im getting is actually from her litter. But she has been away from her for 4 weeks.
