OMG! My husband and I just booked a trip to Churchill for this November. I posted here to see if any one is from Manitobahttp://rabbitsonline.net/view_topic.php?id=36163&forum_id=5 We are staying at the Polar Bear Lodge for a seven days of polar bear watching during the migration. It's something we have talked about for ten years and can finally do together. We have decided to fly to Winnipeg and take the 36 hour train ride to Churchill. My DH is a train 'nut'. I hope you have a fabulous visit. I really enjoyed seeing your pictures. Did you take your photos from a tundra buggy or some type of building?

OMG!! I went through the first 50 photos and they were so beautiful!! Where are they exactly as in one photo I see those Gigantic vehicles that I was in the show "Ice Road Truckers" and wondering if its around that part of Canada?

Poor things so near civilization or at least manufactoring.. I really worry about the Polar Bears becoming extinct in my life time.. Beautiful shots - I think it was number 16 or 17 Mom and babe are leaning into each other at the shore watching what I 'm sure was "traffic" going by..

Churchill is on the Hudson Bay. Here is a small map from Rail Canada. http://www.viarail.ca/nostrains/en_trai_prai_wich.html We were told you either have to fly in from Winnipeg or take the train because there aren't roads around Churchill.

Those big vehicles look like tundra buggies with observation decks. http://www.tundrabuggy.com/ http://www.tundrabuggy.com/polar-bear-tours/

Here is Polar Bear Lodge I seemost of the tours for 11/08 are booked solid.

As an added bonus, we will be able to see the aurora borealis although I hear it's best in Spring. I've onkly seen the Northern Lights once.

It's offered throught the U of S to anybody. This year i'm leaving on oct 28 and coming home Nov 3. We drive to The Pas, MB and stay the night and hop on the train there wich takes any where from 24hrs to 30hrs. I think last year coming home we were at least 8hrs behind schedule cause the train coming in lost an engine so it had to work extra hard getting in.

The 1st year most of the Photo's I took are from the Tundra Buggy. There a couple from our little Tour bus. The Photo's of the Bears Sparing are taking by someone else that was on the trip, as my camera battery died.

I gurantee u will enjoy the trip i did. Didn't care to much for the long train ride not easy falling asleep in those seats.
