We have a spayed female BEW lop in rescue named Marcy (young, but age unknown). She has been with a wonderful foster family for a few months now. She has always been extremely sweet, sociable, and easy to handle. All of a sudden she turned aggressive and would grunt, lunge, and bite. The foster mom was in a panic! She didn't want to to get rid of Marcy, but she was afraid her children would get bit. She spoke with our program director, who inquired about any diet changes. It turns out that mustard greens had been recently introduced into her diet. The foster mom stopped feeding mustard greens and Marcy returned to her sweet former self.

I have never heard of this. Has anyone else had any experience with anything like this?

Wow. I have never heard of that either. I know my guys don't like mustard greens very much, so I don't feed them often. They don't get upset when I feed them, but maybe they're a bit more antsy because they're hungry because they don't want to eat them.

edit: couldn't find anything linking mustard with aggression in any animal on a quick google search either.

I also did a quick search also and couldn't find anything. I find it very bizarre, but this actually happened. Once the mustard greens were taken out of her daily diet, the sudden aggression totally disappeared. It may be something to remember when we have people ask about sudden temperment changes to ask about diet changes.
