We use a projector in the family room instead of a TV, so it's hooked up to the desktop computer with speakers hung next to the projector mount.

I use this to play music for the rabbits during the day as they are in the same room.

I keep it at a reasonable volume for their wee ears.

I find this has a very relaxing quality; there are no clanging drums or harsh piano notes and the mixed vocals add to the feeling of not "being alone". It also doesn't go way down and very high during crescendos, so I don't need to constantly adjust the volume.

There is enough variety that most of the songs meld into one long song, so it never seems like I'm playing the same thing. The songs with vocals can certainly be picked out but they, on shuffle, don't play so often that it seems like it's too often.

I do see a difference between days I inadvertently don't turn on the music and I have to run errands for a length of time versus days where I'm out and it IS on. When I get home on the days where it's playing the rabbits are flopped sleeping, feet kicked out, or playing with toys. On the off days they seem anxious for attention and to have out time. They seem more...frazzled without it.

What's your style?

Do you? Don't you? Why? Why not?

Pros and cons?

I work away from home so the kids are on their own for 9 hours a day. I play a local radio station that has light rock, it's work appropriate so nothing harsh. I agree that if I forget to turn it on before I leave they are more anxious in the evenings. I think it helps random house noises to blend into the background rather than startle them. We have so many animals that there's always some one jumping up or down making a thump or rustle.

In general they don't seem to care what I play as long as there's music on. The exception is Becky, she's a music critic. I can tell what she likes by the angle of her ears. For example, Celtic music or Celine Dion gets ears forward listening and happy face. If I'm cranky and put on NIN or Smashing Pumpkins her ears are back and she hides under her box with a thump. For a lop she is an excellent communicator. The other three don't seem to care as long as it's not too loud.

I play :singing:classics:singing: like Bach and Mozart no one gets my style at school but Willow likes it. I actually have a Mozart station on Pandora just for Willow:D

Whenever we go out, the radio is always on. On the weekends we always listen to Beatles music, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Harry Chapin, The Traveling Wilbury's , John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr.

They all love that kind of music. Even our newest, Neville is enjoying the sounds of music.

K:)

I'm a bit of a power freak, so that's probably why I haven't done this yet. but I'm a metal head, as is my fiance and he seems to have no problems with that at all, though we do have to keep the bass off in the living room or he gets thumpy ):

I think it's interesting to see what other homes do for their pets when they're away. In the kitchen I have an ocean + soft piano CD playing in a continuous loop. The cats sleep in the kitchen a lot.

I might make up a second playlist for the buns just for variety's sake.

They cringe when Skrillex shows up on Youtube in the same room though. Whoops.
