Im a bit freaking out iv owned a bun before so i know what to get for cage measurments ect (NIC or a playpen something for the bun to stretch his legs ect ) and we are adopting a lionhead dwarf tomarrow(his mom is dragging me to the pet store to pick one out been wanting one for months also she speaks german and i dont yet...). I walk outside all of a sudden i see an outdoor hutch turn around to my husband despratly sighing oh my god....basically she surprised us with a cage and used my husbands money that he was going to use for getting a big cage. the cage is so small i dont think you can even fit a litter box in it. Bit panicy about this my husband and i figured getting once of those fences for outside and putting the hutch on the ground in the bedroom and just using it for toiletry and sleeping white the fenced area he can run around and play in. What do you guys think? I also think this will become a family fued over this because his dad thinks we are ungratful for the hutch they picked out.

Heres some pictures.

took out the hallway in it i think it makes it even more difficult for the bun.

Thanks so much really cant believe this is all happening OTL...

Return it? Explain to her that you'd like something bigger and thank you (although if its your husbands money she did you no favour).
Also if you dont want a petstore bunny, dont let anyone drag you. You have to be firm but kind with mother in laws. That much I know.

The store over here wont take it back once its built he also drilled screws into the bottom so it wont foll off the dresser. In Austria they have really strict laws on pets in pet stores i have no idea how they work it over here i just know they have to be good breeders. And i dont th ink she did us a favour ether im thinking of trying to use it somehow because we are stuck with it really frustrating situation. One bad thing is she speaks german and doesnt really understand english and i dont speak german at all.

Man that is one tiny cage. Might be okay for a couple of guinea pigs, but that's it. Since it's got that tray thing for easy cleaning, I'd just go ahead and train the bunny to use it as a majestic litterbox. You can have a pen around it with his toys and food, thank MIL for the great looking hutch but you just felt the bunny might like more space so you extended his living quarters with a pen. But the hutch is great. And bunny loves it. Danke shoen.

GOOD NEWS AND NICE UPDATE!! Both me and my husband and my mother in law went to the pet store aparently she listions to store clerks and she was saying the same thing as me....and believed her over me oh well but! We actually got another cage my husband splurged on me and we got a 10 percent discount the store was holding so we didnt pass up on that!

The old hutch is going outside with a fence and our new huge cage (iv never seen them this huge in the US) is in our bedroom pics!

How exciting! I'm glad your problem is solved. It looks like you got a lot of nice stuff for your future bunny!

What a lovely big cage. :)

Felix had a small cage like that for a while. I bought it before I got him and didn't realise just how small it was. Luckily he's out for most of the day, and I've since upgraded him, and we'll be upgrading again to a NIC condo soon.
