More Stupid Questions

Okies... I have to ask...

Babies are 11 days old, eyes are open and they are walking around the cage...

Is it safe to take Momma and the babies out of the cage a lil bit? I would like to take a few pics, baby-proof the cage (they are roaming out of the nestbox and scared of the gaps in the cage), and give Momma a good run around to relax a bit. I'd also really love to clean the cage. Lol.

So is it safe? The babies will be together and kept warm and Momma won't be far so she won't panick. Just think she could use a run cause she is getting fed up in the cage, rattling the bars whenever she can. Lol.

I'd put Houdina in the bedroom. Also, for cleaning the cage, do I need to change the bedding in the nestbox? Or should I just do the areas around the nestbox?

First of all i am so glad the little one is doing well :biggrin2:

As for your question i guess its up to the person i would def. clean out the nest and put fresh stuff in there they have fur now so its not like they need to keep warm the same and yes as soon as my babies open their eyes we take them into the house and give mum a break we give the girls a nice pile of veggies and they really do like the piece and quiet

Its not a problem letting mum out for a run either just make sure you put the babies back first then her its usually the first thing a doe will do is go check up on them. Same as she will do that if you take the babes away for a while when you put them back she will go check they are all there and ok

I would prefer chenging at least some of the nest because i can imagine the babies pee in there and all :?

yeah a few more days and they will destroy it anyway so i would just clean it all out take out nest box and give them a pile of shavings and hay to cosy up in

i don't use a nest box anyway so we just clean it all otu and make a new one
