Mom having Babies over 24 hours

Ok, I have a cal doe who started having babies yesterday 1 alive, 2 dead and had 2 more this morning dead. Why???? she is not having them in the nest box, the breeder i got her from said she was a good mother, but this is not going so well. Any suggestions.

I'm sorry to hear your doe is having trouble. Exactly when was her due date?

Sounds like something went wrong with the pregnancy. That has nothing to do with mothering skills. (Unless you are sure she killed them...)

It can happen I have a doe that regularly has her litter over 24 hours.

how long have you had her? was she pregnant when you got her just thinking if she was mated when you got her maybe the move etc has unsettled her.

If she is in good condition once you are happy she has passed all her kits you could remate I usually leave mine a week just to check they are ok before remating especially if they have a hard time with the birth then I would give a couple of weeks

This can happen. Especially if its the rabbits first time or they are older. I hope the other baby lives. You could rebreed her in about four weeks. Just give her some time to cope if she does lose all her babies.
