No less than 18 inches of snow on the ground...

6-9 more inches of snow predicted...

A roaring fire in the woodburner....

Home made chicken noodle soup on the stove....

Bread in the bread maker.....

......LIFE JUST DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!

Maybe I need to bake a pie, too...

wow can i come over, i would love snow, and to sit by a wood burner

Sure! :D It's probably only a 10 hour drive. So we'll eat at, what, about... midnight?

You don't have any snow? We've been getting blasted all week. With below zero temps and high winds tonight, I doubt the kids will be having school tomorrow. (They've been waiting!).

We've got some snow here in central PA, but not that much. We're forecast for 2-4 inches tonight, and below zero temps.

My husband's dad was from Elkhart....he grew up there in the 1940s and 50s. My MIL grew up in New Carlisle...small world!

That does sound good! One extra for tea as well please! :D :wave2

It's not nearly so cold here (no snow unfortunately) but I have just made myself a lovely curry with spiced cauliflower... I think that making 'comfort' food like that when it's miserable outside and you feel miserable does wonders for making you feel better :)

I could do with a lovely fire... -40 here this morning.
That's right, -40.
And I did the grown-up thing and shoveled the driveway:shock:. That is so a man's job!!!(well, only when it's -40).

I would def. like some pie, tho.:biggrin2:

Okay, so that will be 8 more for dinner. I'll throw a few more noodles in the pot! :biggrin2:

Wouldn't be fun to get all together? We could have a great big slumber party!

Oh my goodness! Well, you can tellyour dadwe're having a winter like those he had as a kid! (My parents grew up just south of here, in that same era). Lots of snow, and cold, cold, cold (this week).

Not 40 below like NorthernAutumn's Ontario....but we willhave that with our windchills overnight.

Bundle up tight!
I frost-nipped my thighs.. oddly enough, everything else was OK, but my jeans were too thin.
We've got frostbite warnings playing like every 15 minutes on the local radio.. remember, don't rub! You guys must get some pretty good lake effect snows, but also get the moderating impact of the water...

I would love to come to your house for dinner (and steal Velvet for dessert:biggrin2:)

I had a request for pictures, so with my daughter (xeblic)'s help, behold,

"Winter in Indiana"

This is outside our back door. We have to duck or run into the icicles!

This is a little dark, but you can see the wires running into the open hood of my son's car. It's called, "Put the Engine Block Warmer and Battery Charger on the Car, So it Will Start Tomorrow"!

This is our back porch. I always take a look at the grill to see how much snow we got.

Our back yard...the winter wonderland.

It's hard to see how deep the snow really is...I'll have to take a picture of our dog tomorrow, so you have a reference.

from our driveway, facing the street

Frosty got his wish!

(I had to scrape the snow away from his sign so you could see it!

Still in the driveway...

And, the icicles again, just because I thought they were so pretty. You can tell by the lighting that I took all of these pictures while the sun was setting.
