Ok.

Need advice from breeders and ones who show..etc. I took my mini rex to the last show in monroe wa yesterday and they placed 2nd of 4..my rews but she said that they lacked fur density..and my red she said lacked same.

SO with that. Would I take them to another show and see what another judge may think? Would I sell them, and find better rex for my breeding/showing?

I would like to have great REWs and REDs..( soon tris when I get that way) So I want to start on the right foot.

I am thinking you breed 2 REWS with lacking in fur density..the kits are going to have the same issue.

Thanks for your help.

Misty

I don't see too many reds or tris with really good density (or texture)-those are toughcolors to work with.

Yes, you'll continue to breed poor coats if that's all you have in your breeding program. I've seen a lot of REW's with fantastic texture and density, so you should be able to find a REW to improve the density in your coats.

Ok..So they had good comments on my doe just the lack of fur density..So think I should keep her and breed her to a REW with great fur density?
Thats too bad about the reds and tris. I really like those colors. Ill keep eye ball out for a good red buck and that may help with the babies...right?
I also love the blues..Man too many to pick from LOL

Yes, if you breed her to a buck with really nice density then you should get some okay babies.
With the Reds & Tris, do the same. Density can be hard to find in those varietys but thats just a good reason to work with them.
Blues are nice too, I aggree! Especially in the Minis, there are so many varieties. A good thing and bad thing!

It will be hard to get great REWs here in Washington unless you buy from out of state, but you most definitely can bring in some nice lines that have great fur density.

And if you breed them to animals with great density, then they should have offspring with good density as well. ;)

Thinking on Mini rexes, my mini rexes that i had in NY, have a longer coat than the ones down here in KY when me and someone swapped bucks. my doe has a longer rex coat than the buck. my old blue buck had the same longer coat and showed decently.

Misty, if Poppy throws any tri babies to Ed, I'll send one your way. Poppy's got great density and Ed lacks just slightly. But Ed is a broken black otter with blue/blue otter behind him. Poppy's go a lot of unknown color behind her dam's side. Poppy's mother's pedigree never came in.
