Her tea-cup poodle she got from a kill shelter about a year ago just had surgery for his luxtating pattella (sp?) - its a bad knee joing that is Arthritic. He is 10 days out from the surgery and she came home to find him with a huge abscess at the site where the pin was placed in his knee (not the incision sight).

She's freaking out at the Emergency Vet Hospital and I'm trying to find answers for her - so if anyone has info on this problem - please post back. Thanks to all.

I've had two dogs with LP. My Yorkie had Grade 3 in one leg and Grade 2 in the other. I opted for no surgery because I could rock her knee back in place when it went out on occasion.

The second Yorkie was given to me by my vet. He was already 10 months old and had Grade 4 in both back legs. He had to have surgery because his knees were locked.

Honestly, the surgery was hard on him. No abscess (Im so sorry for your friend!) but there was a long recovery ahead for the pup but he did make it through ok - it just took time.

((hugs))
