Mineral Oil or Warm Water for Scent Glands?

Which one is better to use? We're going to clean Sabriel's scent glands tonight and I'm not sure which one is better to use.

We've always just used warm water and it's always worked well.

We always use unscented baby wipes.

I prefer mineral oil because the material is waxy and oily. The oil dissolves the material. The waxy stuff can repel water.
