My mini mare Mercy normally does fundraisers for the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm but later today (yeah, insomnia strikes me at 12:37 AM) we go to the Wayne County Humane Society to have Mercy paint pictures to raise funds for them.

She had her bath and did 10 pictures and 5 note cards here at home to get things started - the paint takes a bit longer to dry (but non-toxic so it is worth it).

Since the bunny hopping group is in Wayne County, I will have to see if they are there to do a demo. If not, I will suggest that the person in charge line them up for next year.

Mercy will have some news photos done - I did the phone interview this past week.

We're back - Mercy had a large pen that she was turned out in but she would come over to me to paint. We did not sell a lot of the paintings compared to last year but I gave what we did do to the humane society so they can sell the cards and bigger paintings on their webpage and at the shelter to help animals in need of homes. They had a number of dogs and cats - did not see any bunnies, nor was the bunny agility team there - I will talk to the director to see if they can get the agility team going next year.

Oh, and even with an outdoor pen, Mercy chose to use the "restroom" on the trailer. A few people stood around watching her and she would not go so I had to shut the trailer door and pretend she was not around. I had to chase the people away - they did not get that my horse does not like anyone watching her poop - even me! She is a funny little horse that way.

LOL! Kota just started peeing in front of us recently - but it has to be in his stall! No peeing outside!

I didn't know, either until I met Mercy and we have 14 years of visits to schools and nursing homes with only one accident (two weeks post foaling many years ago).

I have bruises on my legs from her nips when she has to go...and she will let me know if she wants to go...

We were interviewed for a local paper and now another paper is picking up the story and sending a photographer out to take pictures of Mercy painting her pictures on Tuesday afternoon.

That is so cute that she does that. (The paintings)I love horses but I could never afford one. When I was a teen, I read everything about horses. I just love them.Back then, I would take rides in the country and just take pictures of horses. It's just a dream to havehorses.Anyways....

What you and Mercy do is Great and for a good cause. :great: April

Funny as I could not afford my big horse and had to sell her when I got married and had Andy... I got started in minis a few years later as they were more affordable but I worked as an indentured servant at a number of horse farms (to cover my board) for 10+ years until we could afford our farmette. :)
