Maybe an oops litter

I can't believe I let this happen. I'mso upset with myself. I went in to feed the buns and I letBasil out for a run. I had Orion's cage open (the 2nd level)and he's never jumped out before, so I mistakenly thought he would beok. I turned around and he was out of the cage. Iturned around again, and there he was, right with Basil.

Oh, I can't believe I was that irresponsible. Well, I know Icould easily find homes for any babies, I have some friends who want"babies" and I could sell them at the store, so it wouldn't be all thatbad. I just feel awful. I've been debating anddebating breeding Basil, even since I got Saphy, I'm just not sure whatto do, but I guess fate may have just made up my mind for me.

Orion is about 15 wks, so I'm not positive he's ready?? But I think he probably is.

If you dont want the babies, then setting up avet appiontment and getting her spayed asap would be the best option.Bunnies can have up to eight or more babies, and sometimes placingmixed breeds, oreven finding room to keep all thebabiescan be very hard. theres enough unwanted mixed breedbabies out there already as it is. rabbits can breed as early as threemonths, so he may, or may not be old enough to breed. We sell mixed breed bunnies all the time at the store I manage, andthey are never in the store for over 1 week. Also, I have 6friends who want babies. I've done the abort the babies thingbefore, my cat ran away for 3 weeks as a kitten (we had a house sitterwho let her out of the house) and when she came back, she needed spayedimmediately, it turned out she was pregnant. I swore Iwouldn't do that again. So, I'm not going to have her spayeduntil I'm sure I'm not going to breed her. She is a showquality mini rex, my niece is looking into starting to show with 4-Hand she may be using her or her kits, if I decide for sure tobreed.

Accidents happen, as I've learned, and I'm going to take theresponsibility for this "accident" if anything should come ofit. I was able to separate them very quickly, so I'm hopeful,but I'll see. It's not one of those awful things where a hugebunny and a tiny bunny breed, he's a mini rex mix (I think withNetherland Dwarf -- but something really small). He's muchsmaller then she is.

I don't mean to come across as being abrasive here, I just believe thatsince I made the mistake, I should take responsibility forit. Anyone I gave/sold babies to would know that I have a noquestions asked policy if you need to return the animal for any reason.

Oh what a day. Well hopefully nothingwill come of it. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I don't thinkDixon knew the background and that's why she posted what she did. Nobody is giving you a hard time. I know you will do right by the babiesif there are any. I will be thinking of you Hun and hoping. Prayerwon't hurt either for you and Basil.

Tina -- Thanks. It's been a long day,I went back to work and that was a fiasco, and that was the last thingI needed. Things are just insane in my life right now and Ican't seem to get a break, but I also know it will settle down andthings could be much worse. I really hope this doesn't leadto anything, except me knowing that Orion is becoming a daredevil andhe isn't my little baby anymore. He's going to be needing tobe neutered soon but Sage and Elvis are going to go with him.He has 2 months before my vet will do it because he's such a little guy.
