I believe that for the dwarf breeds (lionhead, Netherland dwarf, Holland lop, etc) it is about 1 year....

Generally, the larger rabbits (Flemish Giants, Californians, New Zealands, Palominos, etc.) should be bred the first time around 8-10 months of age. What's too old? I've had trouble getting does over 16 months of age pregnant, and most won't successfully get pregnant after 18 months. Although I did have a Flemish doesuccessfully kindle and raise her first litter at 23 months of age. (THAT was a surprise!)

Ah I see. Thanks for answering my question :)The reason I was asking is this:-

Frankly I thinkEbony (black all over) and Guy (broken agouti/butterfly) would produce beautifully coloured babies if they were mated.

However as they live outside, if they were going to bemated, waiting until Spring 09 when it will bewarmer seems like a better optionfor the survival of any babies.

Nothing is definitely going tohappen, its an idea I've given some thought to.
