Hello!
I am 18 years old and have an 11 month old female Holland Lop Ear named Marley. When I first got her, she was so small that they couldn't tell if she were a boy or a girl so I was having trouble naming her. I was listening to Give It Away by Red Hot Chili Peppers and there's a line in the song that says "Bob Marley, poet and a prophet. Bob Marley taught me how to off it. Bob Marley walkin like he talk it." and for some reason that name just stuck. I figured Marley sounded like both a girl's and a boy's name so that's what I settled on. Turns out, she was a girl :)
I love her so much! She loves to cuddle and for me to hold her like a baby! I let her out to play regularly but lately she has been biting on her cage like crazy. I have tried to read into it and the only thing that I have found as a reason is that she wants to mate or wants out... Which isn't the case because she is fixed and is let out plenty. I am worried that she is lonely and have been considering getting her a brother or sister but since she has always been the only bunny around, I don't want her to hate it! Suggestions?

Hi MarleyLove

Well none of my bunnies hang out together they are all separated since they are not fixed, I wish I could. My bunners bite on their cages too some more than others and they all get out regularly. I will not be able to bond any of my buns until they are done showing and fixed. I would try calling a rescue and setting up some play dates so she can pick out who she likes best. A playmate is a great idea for Marley and can be a different breed. By the way I think Marley is a great name for her. :) She is adorable!!!

Marley is adorable and I like having a face to associate with the owner too. This is a great place to learn new things about your bunny buddy. My male lion head who used to be very laid back started getting ornery and the the pet store I used to work at suggested he was lonely. That turned out to be the case and he took to Jessica a female lionhead very quickly and they're now best buddies. It just takes a little time being in separate but nearby cages and some time together in a neutral area(neither of their cages). I think it took Monty and Jessica only a week or so to bond.

Must_Love_Pets: Awww... Thank you so much! I think I will do so... That's an awesome suggestion to have her pick a friend out though because I don't want to force a situation on her. There is a breeder nearby who has some younger bunnies so maybe I'll see how she interacts with them. Much love to you and your bunnies!!!

LionHeadDad: Thank you a ton!!! Lionheads are so so SO adorable! I would have originally gotten a lionhead but Marley ended up really sticking out to me :p Do you bunnies ever fight? What are their ages?

Thanks I'm rather partial to them :) There is a picture of Monty when I first got him here:

My rabbits never fight they're good buddies. They are social animals and like being together. They will groom each other and lay down right up against one another. It's very adorable.

AWWW... Monty is SO cute! :)
Knowing that you have two and that they are such good buddies makes me think that I should get another. Thank you a ton for your input!

*Now all the bunny’s like talk to each other when we mere slaves aren’t around in the Bunny Chat is the spot to be.

*Rabbits Online also has regional forums , this a good way to find a vet in your area that has experience with rabbits and to find out from other nearby of good sources of rabbit supplies.

The Let Your Hare Down section is for anything non-bunny related.

Here is a link tothat will help you and your bunny to connect, How To Bond With Your Bunny.
