HI,

my bunny maomaochiu seems to be stressed at the vet visit. everytime we went to the vet, he got really scared and stressed over there, and then after coming home, he would go underneath the couch for hours no matter how i much i tried to coax him out :( anyone has the same expereince? what can i do? we've only been to the vet for two times, and if he behaves like this now, i cannot imagine how stressed he would get if we are going to neuter him. what do you guys think? thanks!

Hi there - the first time I took Misty to the vet, when we got home, she kept running away from me doing her leg flicks. She wouldn't let me get near her for about 2 days - kept running away and hiding.

Moamoachiu will get over it - I'm sure he doesn't like being taken to a strange place with strange people and being held so much.

Just make sure he is still eating and drinking ok - and a couple treats won't hurt. ;)

Is it the same vet that hurt him by cutting into the quick? Rabbits have very good memory so he might be scared that it's going to happen again.

Sometimes the only thing you can do is make sure that you do everything you can to keep the stress at a minimum.

Binkie hates going to the vet and starts thumping as soon as she see me get a blankie or a towel out. It's funny, sometimes she thumps at me if I even walk past the bunnie room with one.

Once she sees the carrier....faggitaboutit! thumpthumpthumpthump

And then I get the butt for 3 days afterwards.

She got so upset in the waiting room at the vet that she started to overheat and her muzzle got quite damp. we got her into an examination room and sprayed her ears down and she was soon out of danger, but still very upset.

Waitng in the waiting area at the vet is the most stressful for us. I always call ahead so I don't have to wait. I only live 5 minutes from the vet and they will take walkins. We know thw vet pretty well and I think we're the only ones that bring bunnies in. She an exotics vet and is very in tune to the bunnies needs. She will sometimes even take them in the back to wait so that the other animals, mostly the larger dogs, don't frighten them.

thanks! yeah, i agree that the waiting in the waiting room is the most stressful thing for maomaochiu. hopefully that i can find a good vet that can do what yours does. still looking......
