My bunny Magic's ears have been going all over the place recently. She is about three months old, her dad is a German lop and her mum a cross bred straight eared bunny. We always thought she had inherited her mother's straight ears but during the last week or so they are dropping more and more. Today she has either one ear up and one ear down most of the time. Has anyone experience with half lops. Could her ears be lopping at this late stage?

Yes it's one up one down or both half down like an aeroplane a lot of times, particularly when she's indoors exploring. I must try and get some nice shots. When she is outdoors they seem to be mostly up and only occasionally one drops. I wonder can they stay like that into adulthood or is it a sign that they're on the way down? If they did drop she'd be the image of her father (a German lop)

Ears held out laterally are commonly referred to as "helicopter ears" or"oar lop". Half Lops have 1 ear down, and "horn" lop earsfall to the front over the head.

Ears can lop at any point in the rabbit's life. Warm, steady temperatures generally lend to lop ears.

Thanks, Pam, that's really interesting. I expected that the temperatures played a role. I'll keep an eye on those ears :D

I just took a few pictures in the garden of her current "outdoor look". Indoors both ears have started to go down in helicopter fashion.Very strange

I am quite excited about this. Up until two weeks ago her ears were always straight.
